SmaugTheDragon
I like the new design, it works better for my ultrawide monitor, didn't understand the need to not use 70% of the screen space. And it still works however thin I make the window, very nice. Edited December 16, 2017 by SmaugTheDragon

Thanks in advance!mod managerread the text - whatever change you do goes livewe can't go cause that would defeat the point of changing the whole thing. Wait for it...any minute now... *crickets* Wait...shhh... "But, Ethreon, whatever is the point of changing the whole thing?" Don't worry, I got you. The site is made with desktop and mobile in mind, not one or the other. That's the responsive nature of the site, where when you reduce the browser width it changes accordingly. When viewing at a width of 1200px or more, it's made for desktop and only desktop. When viewing below 1200px it's made to work better for tablets and mobile. That's modern web dev, and it's the cheapest and most efficient method moving forward for small development teams to be able to accommodate as many users on their various mediums and browsers as possible. We'll certainly be reviewing how the site looks and functions based on the constructive feedback provided over the coming weeks and months, which is what we've been saying we'll do through this entire process. Frankly, the people saying we aren't listening or won't listen to feedback, and won't make changes where valid concerns are raised can really bite me. Some of the responses here and in other threads have been truly pathetic and I won't pander to the silliness being shown. If that makes it look like I'm "not listening" then I'll get over it and let the actions we take over the next few months do the speaking. Why waste my time? This was already answered in one of the news posts, so once again, this isn't a "they're not listening/they're ignoring us" issue. That's actually a "people aren't reading the news posts" issue! It's not possible for two reasons. One, it would require double development time on our end when we change any functionality or add new functionality in the future, which just isn't feasible to do. And two, it would require mod authors to maintain two separate versions of their mod pages that work for the different site designs. Obviously that's not feasible either.A number of people suggested keeping the PC version as an option, what is your reply? About sums it up for several of the posts on this page. Can I please ask:1) What is Vortex? What is the benefit of it? Ethreon answered this.2) Why does it matter that the new site uses "live data"? I think the goal is to integrate mobile and PC so that you can flag a mod while browsing on mobile that will then appear in your download queue in Vortex, waiting for you when you get to your PC.3) Is the new site being provided by a different host? Is that why they aren't going back to the old one? Good question! This is what I suspect myself, or something along similar lines, and now with the repeal of net neutrality, we'll have to see if our dl speeds get throttled. Thanks in advance!:)
BalethSajenson
Overall, I think that the redesign is a significant improvement once you get used to it, particularly in terms of functionality. I particularly love the ability to perform a search of multiple categories. However, in terms of visuals and display, I find it to be lacking. Buttons and thumbnails are needlessly large, and while I understand the desire to use screen space more efficiently, I preferred the old layout's more centred design. I zoom out to 80% to recreate a similar effect, which has the added bonus of showing some of the site background at the sides. I am not a fan of the generally colourless design. I also much preferred old design for thumbnails, which displayed only an image, the mod name, the modder's name, the number of endorsements, and the number of downloads, with the short description showing when one would hover over it. As they are now laid out, short descriptions are sometimes too large to fit the standard tiles. Using big tiles or the list format can remedy this, but this requires them to be larger when I find them already to be too large. I do not see why the filesize needs to be listed along with endorsements and downloads, let alone ahead of them. I personally have never been influenced in my decision on whether or not to check out a mod by its size. So on the whole, I find that the redesign functions significantly better but is a downgrade visually. twowolves80
I don't understand why it would work on mine and not on yours. That takes me to the old site. That's without clearing my cache.
