New design constructive feedback

to me its just harder to find things since options are now so spread out i have to actively look for them

atleast it isnt as some gui`s where everything has its own menu and makes things a chore

i think its clear this is designed for large monitors and touch screens

color scheme gets in the way, its not properly set in a way that distinguishes things, readability

theres also probably a lot useful things that were dropped from the ui itself, that still had purpose and were in use

i dont expect all of this to be completely revamped but refined over time?

page 38 of 90% of the feedback being "The new layout is bad for X reasons." and what do we get? The old website will be taken offline during the week starting February 12th.

If it's permanent and my options after that are "struggle with the godawful layout" or "don't use the nexus anymore." I know what option I'll choose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's my constructive feedback:
- Currently, the information on mod pages (like Endorsements, Downloads, Version, About This Mod etc.) is not being arranged in a visually pleasing way. For comparison, see this Stylish mod, which manages to completely fix the problem: https://userstyles.org/styles/150272/compact-nexusmods-2-1-0
- Why is it that now I am not able to see a description of a Hot File without opening it, unless it's one of the two that are shown in bigger squares?
- What happened to being able to see the Views count when managing my files? It was a very handy information for newly uploaded files...
- When managing my files, why are values that are in thousands being rounded up? I much prefer being able to see the exact values.
And there are also a few features that I would like to be added:
- Setting the default way of sorting my own files
- Being able to sort my own files by the most recent change, including any endorsements
- Being notified about someone endorsing my file

I want same thing !

also I want to add :

- please recover the search validation like old one, the old one can search text less than 3 characters, the new design using validation minimum 2 chars which is not effective since there is some mods that need to search with only 2 chars

That's what I'm figuring, too, based on what Dark0ne and other staff have said over time. Once Vortex is released, I expect the changes to the site to happen fairly quickly.

I don't hear, "The new layout is bad for x reasons, therefore we will force you to, "struggle with the godawful layout."

Wanna know why? I hear, "The old website will be taken offline during the week starting February 12th," and figure that maybe, just maybe, it's because they're going to release Vortex finally either before or very shortly thereafter.

this thread in a nutshell:

Poster1 - new layout is godawful

dev Response - no FU u r wrong new layout is gud

Poster2 - *insert actually constructive feedback*

dev ignores it

seems to me the devs are over attached to this new layout even though most don't like it and refuse to admit and/or change it because of their attachment to it. and that this thread is less about receiving constructive feedback or criticism and more about trying to get others to pat them on the back with how dismissive they are to anything other than "oh em gee it looks good!"

honestly. the new layout is one step forward, and then so many steps backwards you walked out the front door and into a street and thus got hit by a bus.

totally agree on this. Same thing happened to last fm. Devs keep making same mistakes over again

Tsk, I tells ya...Members keep making the same mistakes over and over again by not reading the OP. So here, I'll spell it out with the big red crayon:

1. Old site is going the way of the dodo because it's too expensive and labor-intensive to have two sites showing the same information. Modders would have to create two different mod pages for a single mod. Vortex will not be integrated into the old design.

2. This thread is for posting glitches and other broken features so that the dev (and notice, there's no apostrophe and "s" after that) can comb through the threads to find issues that need addressing. Idiotic comments like, "This site sux balls, you're breaking Nexus, I'm leaving and never coming back," et cetera, are probably going to be ignored as they provide no useful information to the dev.

3. The old site is not coming back, so no amount of bitching, wheedling, whining, crying, ranting, threatening to leave, cussing out Dark0ne or the admins, or rant-posting is going to bring it back. Dark0ne gave everyone a chance to vote on the new website a half year ago or so (and I'll admit, I'm one of the ones who missed that post) so that people could post ideas they'd want to see integrated into the new site. The only response was crickets and a few, scattered bits of feedback. Therefore, for those who were here at that time, guess what? You have nothing to say about anything that Dark0ne decides to do about the new site because you had your chance and missed it, and he's not going to bring back that thread simply to satisfy you.

4. If you think a poll would provide some dramatic new light on the situation that you're just sure would show that the majority wants the old site back, go for it. I'll get the popcorn and laugh. You, who are not the site owner, do not get to dictate demands just because you and a bunch of loud-mouth malcontents are unhappy because no one addressed your concerns directly. Dark0ne deals with, on average, I'd say at least a thousand messages a day he has to comb through. He doesn't have time for that s***, and neither do any of the other admins who are otherwise working behind the scenes to make sure Vortex is delivered on time and as solidly as possible so that they can then focus their attention on the website, as was stated very clearly in the OP.

Robin owns the site. Robin decides what goes. Robin makes the rules. It's that simple. You can either choose to be a part of the new design by helping to brainstorm ideas to make it better, or you can fall by the wayside and moan about how it isn't exactly to your liking.

I really think you should add a funcionality to allow tagging mods for later download. I've lost count of how many times I saw a mod while browsing on a computer other than the one I play on or on my phone (thus was not able to download the mod) and had no other option to remember that mod later other than by tracking it.

The problem with tracking is that there is no option to sort the mods in the order you tracked them, so the mod I wanted to remember to download later ends up in the middle of hundreds of other mods I am already tracking, so it's very difficult to find that one mod again if you don't remember its name.

That seems like a simple funcionality to implement, like Youtube's Watch Later list. Hell, we don't even have the option to mark mods as favorites, which is something you can do pretty much everywhere else on the internet.

Vortex is slated to be able to do this, which is why mobile was integrated. That way, you could look at the mods on your phone, star them, and then when you get back to your pc, they would either be waiting in your download queue, or would download automatically as soon as you opened Vortex.

"This thread is for posting glitches and other broken features" - this thread is for feedback. gg wp owned tl:dr

Pretty sure that "broken features" and "glitches" fall under the category of feedback. Bugs on the other hand, are supposed to be reported on the github site. And considering I've been using both "feedback" and the above interchangeably the entire thread, I'd say for the point of this debate that my usage and it's meaning were quite apparent from the beginning.

Now, whom is owning whom, hmmm?

I'm making this thread as a central place in which people can provide constructive feedback based on their opinions of the new design and what they personally think can improve it. We've already got a lot of people all making their own individual threads about the new design in this forum (and others), so from now on, lets keep it to this thread.

Thank you!

It is seriously gutting to hear that they're completely ditching the old design from February 12th. I've been a long time supporter and advocate of unblocking the Nexus in your adblock programs, but after this I'm not so sure.

Aggressively pushing for the new layout, without taking a single shred of constructive feedback (the design has literally not changed since they asked for "feedback") is disgusting. I'll of course still continue to use the Nexus, but only because there is literally no alternative. I will, however, no longer be supporting the Nexus directly, and I will be reenabling my Adblock specifically for the Nexus.

If they aren't going to act in the best interest for parts of their community, then I see no reason to support them any longer.

They've been steadily fixing bugs reported on Github here. Right now, they're more focused on keeping it running until Kit (their new dev) can take a look at it, and she's not going to do that until Vortex is released. Dark0ne has said this. The staff have all said this. Several issues have been addressed already from the feedback threads. It's just not in full-swing yet because (once again) Vortex hasn't been released yet.

Re-enabling your adblock doesn't hurt them in the least. We get you're salty about the new site; my advice is simply to be patient a little longer.

It does. Why do you think they had an entire campaign surrounding people not having their ad-block disabled for the website? I find it funny you've resorted to literally lying on the forums in an attempt to deflect criticism.

I don't know whose lap you're riding twowolves, but just how blindly and naively you defend what is objectively poor development and design tells me anything you say is about as worthless and dishonest as the people running this charade themselves.

Gunning for a moderator position are you?

Haha, okay, dood. Whatever you say.

And for the record, I don't want a moderator position, I'm trying to keep you from putting the foot you are so insistent upon shoving into your mouth from winding up there before a real moderator examines your posts a bit more carefully. I don't want to be a moderator for one simple reason: I would be very ban-friendly, and I prefer not to feed that wolf.

I'm just going to sit back now, and watch the fireworks.

In your case since enabling your adblocker again after being listed as a supporter is a mute point, since you would never see any advertisements again anyway due to that account status (which doesn't expire).
