blackninja50
Good news everyone! my Radeon HD 7950 is dying honorably after 6 years of service. My mother bord http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H61M-DGS/This is my card https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Double-2XMiniDP-Graphics-FX795ATDKC/dp/B00E0GYN1W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1513007357&sr=8-1&keywords=XFX+Double+D+HD+7950 Obviously I need a new GPU, I want something with good performance so I can run the next Beth game and 7 days to die. Erik005
To be honest the GTX1060 6GB is cheaper and faster than the RX580. So unless you have a freesync monitor go for the 1060
Guest deleted2630050
RX 580's are tough to get because they're cryptocurrency miners take them all. And if you can find one, they're usually ridiculously overpriced (MSRP at launch was $230-ish) And it's like that for all the AMD GPU's at the moment. If you're not opposed to nvidia GPU's, you might want to consider a GTX 1060. Also, you didn't list your CPU. I can tell by your motherboard chipset that it's a Sandy Bridge Intel. Which one do you have exactly?
blackninja50
My CPU is a i5-3570K @ 3.40GHz. I have no real plans of getting a nvidia card even if it's cheaper. The game works affair and other similar actions have left me hating nvidia with a passion. As far as I have found the 580 and 1060 are about the same performance wise, unless one is better at fallout 4. The 580 is $290 (comes with quake) on newegg well the 1060 is $280 newegg. HeyYou
I run the 1060 6gb FTW+ version, and LOVE it. Runs ALL of my games butter smooth, even in the 'busiest' of areas. And that's with an outdated AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black processor.......
blackninja50
These are the 3 cards I have narrowed it down to. My budget is now only $320 (damn lack of early winter work). Most expensive 8 Gigs ram and alows SLI (maybe one day i might use SLI) but pushes my 500 watt PSU to the limit https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16814150803 Cheaper 6 gigs ram, no SLI and my PSU will handle it np.https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500403&cm_re=Gtx_1060-_-14-500-403-_-Product Vary cheep Only 3 gigs ram, no SLI, PSU will handle it np.https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125906 I only ever use 1 monitor at 1080, I do not own a VR head set (Yet?) and my old Radeon HD 7950 died this morning so I'm using my motherboards integrated graphics now. I am considering nvidia cards dew to high praise of other users and fund/power constants.
iXenite
I highly suggest you save up some extra money and just buy a GTX 1070. It will blow away that RX 580 and will serve you well for a very long time. It falls very well into your original budget of $400 USD. The EVGA SC Gaming model also fits just under that 11" limit you have. In my opinion, it's not really worth it at that price in comparison to the 3GB model. If it was closer to $230 then it would be, but it's not right now. blackninja50
I have decided to go with the GTX 1060 3 gig https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126133 The rX 580 price jumped to $450 last night and the 1060 is still on sale at $208. I could what save up for the 1070 or even a 1080 but I really want my gaming rig back and fully operational. Since I'm moving from a 7950 with one working fan this should be a nice performance boost all the same. Thank you all for your advice. Now for the funeral arrangements for my 7950
