goatz
Hi Forums, I'm new to the game and I just had a quick question. If I have 4096MB of ddr3 available & running XP Pro x64, and with it being said here that, "FallouyNV.exe Is large address aware in that it will use any RAM in excess of 2GB and up to a maximum of 4GB (4096MB), but cannot use anything over 4GB as Bethesda has it written.", is my system/game already taking advantage of the full 4096MB of ram I have? Or do I need the fnv4gb patch? Seems I would not benefit at all from what I am reading. Confused a little. Thanks for any help :)
BarefootWarrior
Good question. My understanding was that FNV (by default) will only us up to 2GB...but I could be wrong. I installed the 4GB enabler to get the game to use up to 4GB. Using this patch did make a difference in my game, just letting ya know. JimboUK
It'll only use 2gb without being made Large Address Aware and it's not Large Address Aware by default. Give the 4gb enabler a try, it should make a difference.
phoneyLogic
with 4gbe it runs little little smoother imo, faster loading Keep in mind, that there's a special version which supports NVSE herehttp://nvse.silverlock.org/ quite down Edited April 4, 2012 by tortured Tomato

JimboUK
http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip this is the NVSE version you want to work with the latest patch and the 4GB enabler.
goatz
ok thanks. Installed. Now, how can I tell if it's working? Can't really tell from game-play :ermm:
JimboUK
To check NVSE put GetNVSEVersion into the console, I don't think you can check the 4GB thing, it should be working if you've got it installed and you're using the NVSE from that link.
