Remove a game from being managed

Personally I dont like vortex at all. I need to remove the handling of my games from vortex but cant. Even after uninstalling vortex NMM still cant mod the games. I had no problems before. Vortex was the biggest mistake I have made. Hundreds of mods accross 7 games and they are all useless because of vortex. If anyone knows how to get NMM working again please let me know. I really want to get back to playing my games.

There is nothing vortex does that would stop you from going back to a different manager. Just click purge inside vortex or uninstall all mods inside it and go back to NMM.

ok I'll try that and let you know how it works. I didn't think to try purging. Thanks.

All Purging does is remove the hard links to your game directory.

After you do it, there should be no Vortex traces left in your game directory. Might pay you to look and see if you have any trash left over from anywhere else.

Manually installed mods, NMM debris, etc. Run Validate from Steam also.

It seems I cant download any mods with NMM anymore. This is disappointing. The original reason I tried vortex was because of the unable to download issue. If anyone knows a way to fix this it would be greatly appreciated as I really have no interest in vortex.

Edit:

I'm not sure what happened but it suddenly started working on its own.

To make downloads work again you need to go to settings inside NMM and check the box saying "associate with nxm links".

NMM and Vortex can't "share" nxm links, only one can be associated and an application can't (at least not reliably) "give back" the association on uninstall. This is a limitation of windows, not the applications.

Whenever you want an application to handle a file type or protocol you need to set that up in the application that should handle it.

  • 1 year later...

so is anybody gonna answer the original question.. the question was asked and yall gave some off topic answers so is there anyway to manually remove vortex from managing games without needing to uninstall vortex

Well, with your winning attitude I'm sure people are rushing to help you as you jump from forum to forum demanding an answer, while ignoring the answer in the other thread you were swearing in...

"You can, but as long as you remove all the mods for it and run a purge, you can just leave it. "

SIMPLE AS THAT

It's been answered across these forums so many times. It's your own fault if you don't posess the skills to find the answer.
