SweetBearCub
To disable ads, I became a site supporter. To have Vortex pester me in multiple places to upgrade to a premium membership is... annoying. I would happily upgrade to a premium membership if it were a one-time charge and if the sum was low enough to justify.
Dark0ne
The continual development and maintenance of Vortex (and NMM), as well as the server infrastructure in place to service the API calls and download services (of which other software, like MO, also uses) costs ALOT of money. Hundreds of thousands of dollars each year (it was the same for NMM), and that's not an exaggeration. We are not going to be removing the Premium notifications within Vortex because without users going Premium there would be no Vortex, and no Nexus Mods. They're vital to the continual survival of the site. So if seeing a few reminders about Premium Membership is what we need to do to continue to fund these projects, we're going to continue to do it. We could monetise it in different ways, including going the plain ads route, or installing shady s#*! during the installation stage route, or other options, but instead, we'd like to keep it as minimal as possible. The current implementation is what we consider minimal.
ipman98
Sum is low enough to justify?. Do you know how much it cost to maintain a site this big?. It's not unfair. It's not like they show popups or install other s#*! like miners to your machine. That premium membership ads help users to remember that nexus needs their help to survive. I honestly believe everyone should be grateful to nexus for their great service. Check out other sites like this, most of them have annoying ads, popups and so many shady stuff to earn revenue. That's why people love nexus. Because nexus truly care about its' users. Otherwise you won't be able to download and use mods this easily. So, try to be little bit more sensitive and intelligent about this before complaining.
SweetBearCub
Maybe I'm wrong, and if so, then I'm flawed and oh well. Having said that - I was sold a lifetime status on the site that was supposed to have "No advertising". But, the premium up-sells are advertising. kamikatze13
lifetime premium membership is what - fifty quid? well butter my butt and call me a biscuit if that's not the price for a triple-a game. and that's what we basically get from all the mods first thing i do when i get a stable source of income is hitting that button ;)

Buried under the x.xx/month on the membership page, there is a lifetime premium option! I never saw that before. About $70.04 USD. I'll happily work some overtime for that. Just as I wanted in my original post. I will happily pay a reasonable one-time charge for lifetime premium status. However, I will not pay every month, over and over. Dark0ne
It's probably important to note that you get Premium Membership upsells shown to you on the Nexus sites as well when logged in as a Supporter, both when you download and at the bottom of every page on the sites, which you don't seem to have taken an issue with! Nope, because they're not ever-present. Only shown on downloads, and I can click to dismiss them. The up-sells in Vortex aren't like that, and can't be dismissed. Having said that, as seen above, another user pointed out that reasonably-priced lifetime Premium memberships are a thing (despite the up-sell page only showing x.xx/month, unless you click through it), and as soon as I saw that, I bought it. I do want to support the site - As I do value it - But not enough to make it a recurring monthly expense for the rest of time.
dejec1989
I got the one time premium thing awhile ago, with vortex when it loads I can see the "buy premium" thing in the top left but when it logs me in it vanishes, if that's what you want? SweetBearCub
with vortex when it loads I can see the "buy premium" thing in the top left Since you have a premium membership, of course it goes away. Before I found the one-time premium membership option, premium up-sells appeared in Vortex in two places - In the upper left near the primary game start button, and as a "widget" among the content, that could not be unchecked in settings or moved out of view. I've been a site member since sometime in 2015. I forget exactly when I bought a supporter membership, but I bought it for two reasons. One, it stopped ads from showing, and two, it was a one-time charge. I would have happily bought a premium membership in place of it if I had known that a reasonably priced one-time charge was an option for the premium membership. Since it was buried until you clicked through, I never knew that until yesterday.
