Danisimo
I hear that some people are still playing it after all this time and i'm wondering what keeps you interested in the game? I got it when it came out, played it for like 2,3 weeks and then stopped for a while due to irl stuff and now that i finally have time to play again... i don't want to play anymore. Im stuck at level 31 with full crafted daedric armor i have not touched the main quest yet. Still haven't chosen a side etc but honestly the whole civil war thing doesen't really interest me anymore. I was never super excited about it but now that i've sort of detached from skyrim i don't really care at all. Since i got it i mostly did side quests and other side content. I wanted to explore, find interesting things etc. Honestly despite exploring over a huge number of dungeons i can't really say that i found something very interesting. I did find 2,3 daedric weapons witch i gave to my companion because their damage is bad, i never actually found a one handed axe(that's what im using). There's like LOADS of dungeons in this game and nothing to make me go into them. What makes me want to go into a dungeon? 1. The excitement of finding something interesting and unknown. Well everything you find in these dungeons is neither interesting nor unknown. I know exactly what i'm going to find. More armor and weapons designed for a character of my level. 2. Site seeing. I would definitely lie if i say that all of skyrim's dungeons look the same but they are very similar. Even though there are different events and different rooms and the mazes are generally different. All of the corridors and rooms that lead to the chamber where the big event happens are basically the same in like in the other dungeons so every time i enter a nordic ruin, cave, dwarven ruin i get a dejavu feeling. What has always interested me in the elder scrolls games was the melee/magic mixed classes ie spellsword, battlemage but skyrim doesen't look like it was designed to be played this way. There aren't really any spells that sinergize with melee combat. The only spells that i really use are the firebolt/ball and the 2 healing spells. On the other hand i completely lose the ability to block parry. Not only are there no spells(except the armor spells) that complement melee combat but not using a shield/2 handed weapon leaves you completely defenseless and makes you tank all the damage. Even though there are some special moves and stuff they aren't a lot and are not fun or difficult to perform and in the end melee combat is just LMB spaming. I probably wont change my armor until the end of the game because daedric weapons/armor are the strongest in the game to my knowledge. Skyrim does have a big open word to explore... but there's nothing to find really. Its just loot and site seeing. I have to admit there are some amazing spots and breath taking views in skyrim and the world is incredibly beautiful but... i've had enough pretty views and i want to see something interesting but there's nothing interesting to find really. Lastly dragon battles were pretty epic at the start but now... they are just trivial. I have a lot of souls i won't need to kill dragons for souls soon and after like 15-20 battles they don't really seem epic. They just become repetitive like everything else. The only thing that i actually want to see know is the whole dragon falling out of the sky when they are low on hp. I managed to do it once by mistake when i decided to no clip and fight a dragon in the air... needless to say it glitched by his glitchy body fell out of the sky at some point and left a huge mark on the ground. Basically glitch finding has become more interesting than the game itself.
thompsonar
Mods? I mean I probably wouldn't be all that in to the game anymore without mods. I got the game in December and have put a decent amount of time in to it. But the only "big" quest line I've done all the way through is the thieves guild oh and the mages guild too. I've only ever done about half the mq and half of a couple other guilds. My problem is I add a few mods and then want to start over again. I've gotten a couple characters to the 30's and one to 43ish but now I'm back to a level 9 mage character. I just installed balanced magic and midas magic so I wanted to try it all out. Most of the exploring I do now is looking for ingredients to make the midas spells or some of the armor / clothes that I've added through mods. You're right that you never find anything all that interesting in the cave's / ruins you explore. But looking for some of the more rare ingredients is really what keeps me going. Deadly dragons has helped a lot as well, as well as the alternate start mod I'm using. Get that mod that lets you convert dragon souls into perks if you feel like they're useless now. There's plenty of options. There's a lot of mods I'm keeping an eye on to try out later once they've been debugged and balanced, so I'm sure I'll be playing months from now. GnatGoSplat
I hear that some people are still playing it after all this time and i'm wondering what keeps you interested in the game? I've been playing since middle of February. I still play, quite simply because, "I have nothing better to do." After all, it's way more fun than real life, at least it is for me. I can only stand watching TV or trolling forums for so long. I'm at level 51 now, and already played through every major quest, and almost every minor quest. I have nothing left to do, but to build up the skills I haven't maxed up to 100, find every spell, every word of power, and hope that in my scavenger hunts to find everything the game has to offer, I'll stumble upon a new minor quest I didn't know about. That may sound rather boring, but I'm used to playing Sims games where the game gets very boring unless I've set a specific goal to accomplish. Skill building is at least a lot more entertaining/interactive in Skyrim than Sims! When I'm through with this character, I'll probably start a new one just to go down a different path on the civil war quest to see what that's like. I probably won't bother repeating the other quests. I have played other games, but most, once I've gotten through the story, there's just no more reason to play it any more. Skyrim at least keeps me interested because you never know who or what might trigger a quest. I do wish like Sims, there were expansion packs or DLCs with all new quests and characters. Not sure what I'll do when Skyrim gets to where it's more boring than real life. Maybe buy Oblivion, I hear good things about it, some people even say it was better than Skyrim. Only concern I have is I wonder if I can get used to its worse graphics after becoming accustomed to Skyrim's fantastic graphics.

Ironman5000
Well i've always been addicted to gaming and when I start one I tend to play it to death until i've found everything, been everywhere, done all the quests, gained as many skills as possible until the game stops being challenging. My main goal for RPGs in general is to reach the highest level I geared with rare artifacts, which is one of the main reasons I got into modding. The fact that we have mods stretches the life of any game like more enemies, quests, spells, weapons, perks, abilities, level limits, locations and much more. With mod authors making more and more over time just adds the experience, you could get tired of old mods and set up new ones and get a completely different experience. Saying this ever since I got into actually making mods I rarely get on the game myself :teehee: but I enjoy the modding experience just as much as playing it so when I eventually say "I'm getting too old for this s**t" I will be able to play these RPGs till I die and never get bored. So in summary, use mods!

I can't really comment on the real life thing because i don't know what you're going trough but do you really believe that there is nothing else to play than skyrim? For example i myself am a big fan of the dota/moba/actionRTS (or whatever new name they came up with it) genre. I play almost every day with friends. Although not too much rarely more than 4,5 games. It gets boring if you play it too much aswell. There are like loads of things to play. Are you into cheesy shooter? CoD, BF3. You like rpg's? Mass effect blends a 3rd person shooter with some rpg elements nicely, you prefer the online experience? tons of good f2p mmos(if you don't have money for the really good ones), you like rts? SC2 offers good single and multi player, shogun 2 is also amazing and lets not forget that Diablo 3 is almost here. You're looking for an oldschool experience? Legends of grimrock is launching tomorow a great oldschool dungeon crawler.Thats not even the tip of the ice berg. I could give you like atleast a 100 more games that are worth playing and have been released in the past couple of years. Skyrim is a very good rpg but its not the only game in the world. :)

worldofscotty
I've been playing for a crazy amount of time and the furthest I have got on the main quest is just after you first meet the Greybeards. Only ever done 1 quest for Imperials faction too and never touched Stormcloaks. Not really sure where the time goes but I know I don't have time to walk all the way up that mountain. If they want me they can come down. Edited April 11, 2012 by worldofscotty

Skyrim is a very good rpg but its not the only game in the world. :) Hahah, well, not really going through anything in real life, it's all good at the moment. Just that I'm in my 30s and married - friends all moved away, wife loves watching TV, so I have to find stuff to keep myself entertained so I got into gaming. I do play other games, started Saints Row Third after I started Skyrim, loved the game, but blew threw it super fast and went back to Skyrim. I did start LA Noire, love the graphics on it, but just not really getting into it and I'm sure I'll blow through it really quick too. I've heard good things about Mass Effect 3, but I did wonder if I should start with Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 in order to really appreciate 3. Don't know if I'd really care for CoD or BF3. I have CoD for Android on my phone and only played it for a few days. I think I get bored if there's not a good story line. I'm looking forward to GTA V as well, loved GTA IV and EFLC, but I usually blow through GTA games pretty quick - except I still haven't beat GTA III, it got way too difficult. Don't know what Diablo 3 is like, but I've heard a lot of hype so will probably have to check it out. So yeah, I don't limit myself to Skyrim, but right now I still enjoy it even though all the main quests are done. I think like Ironman5000, I also like to find everything and explore every place possible. I'll usually try to get 100% completion on a game even if part of it means doing something stupid like hunting and killing pigeons. That's another thing I like about Skyrim - it doesn't have a progress gauge, so I have no idea if there are more quests to be found or not which encourages me to keep hunting for them. Even last night before bed, I found a quest with Barbas the talking dog.
