SKSE64 suddenly not launching

I have the EXACT same issue as author. I've done everything from SSE Edit, LOOT, Re-installing SkyUI and SKSE 64, replacing the files with new SKSE64 so I know they're not corrupted in launcher folder, running admin, checking for corruption via Steam. I'm clueless. And if fore has no idea what the problem is... lord have mercy on our souls.

I basically, I had the same problem. I had no problem, until I had to upgraded to SKSE 2.0.7, due to Skyrim SE update. Disable all mods (in Mod Plugins) and still could not get the game to run. It would run, in regular game mode, but not in SKSE mode. I suggest you read everything suggestion and idea here, and update every mod that needs updating. My problem was a mod called... Simple Knock SE. I had to disable the mod, as if one is going to remove it, in the mod section of NEXUS Mod Manager. And, Skyrim SE started without a problem. Updated "Simple Knock SE to 1.0.3" and have no further issues. I hope that this info help someone.

I'm seriously struggling. I never had the simply knock mod, yet I'm having the issue. Guess I'll just have to go through the dlls one by one.

What if you never installed the simply knock mod? I have a fresh install of nexus mod mamanger and skse64 2.0.7 the ONLY "mod" i have is the data file following gophers youtube video in adding it via nexus mod manager and I still get the same issue.

Regular skyrim launches fine but when i click on the loader it just opens the cmd and then instantly crashes. within a second or so.

Exactly the same situation here, never installed Simple Knock either.

Same. I click the loader like I did this morning (I've changed nothing at all) and MO2 crashes. I can load it up by clicking on it directly in its folder, but obviously that's not going to cut it.

Bumping this, even if SKSE64 is the only thing added to the game files after a clean install this still happens.

After following the install instructions, I get the command console pop up showing this before closing and then the game never opening. This happens whether I try and open SKSE64 either through the .exe (both admin and non) or through ModOrganizer2. At this point there are NO plugins involved, but I've checked it with SkyUI and a couple of others and the exact same result happens every time. The only mod I currently have installed is USSEP.

Tested it out on NMM just to be sure, and same result.

@h0neyzuckle: Have you tried installing Skyrim SE outside of the Program Files (x86) folder? Windows tends to be very protective of that folder ( and its non (x86) counterpart ) and might just prevent skse from working at all irregardless of being run as admin.

Sounds like a "rights" issue caused by the stupid Program Files folder.
This is exactly why I NEVER install anything (except my OS, obviously) to the C:\ drive, and ESPECIALLY to the Program Files folder

I've never had a problem starting SKSE64, but I also have my Steam install on Drive D:\Games\Steam, so I don't have to worry about Windows overzealous guarding of the "Program Files" directory

Also, are any of you running an overzealous Anti-Virus program, or one of those Free ones that loves to false flag EVERYTHING?

  1. Uninstall all SKSE plugins type mods & SKSE (Houston we have a conflict)
  2. make sure SKSE folder is squeaky clean!!
  3. then download & reinstall latest SKSE. (just in case :whistling: )

  • VERY IMPORTANT.
  • Make sure your SKSE plugins type mods are compatible with latest SKSE BEFORE reinstalling them. Or get latest versions that are.
  • If not, then just don't go there, you found your problem.

it not Rocket Science. :wallbash:
