CyrusFyre
Okay, I finally got around to really playing Skyrim SE. I do not have SKSE64 installed. I do use Re-Engaged ENB and Vivid Weathers + True Storms + compatibility patch by Ionas177. I have the most updated ENB Series file and the most updated version of Re-Engaged and the most recent versions of the weather mods as well. I also use Realistic Lighting Overhaul. At first everything was fine, lights were beautiful, the world was just great looking. My only issue was with faded or white hair or eye textures during heavy fog but that is an ENB issue and I think a lot of us are waiting for Boris to help us out with it. Then I entered Dragon's Reach and Farengar cast a candlelight spell and suddenly the lights all went super bright. The room he is in is utterly blinding, the fire in the middle of the throne room is blinding, all the fires outside have this really wide bright glow around them and the fires around the burned down watchtower are blinding, fighting a dragon is more or less impossible because it is bright enough to hurt my eyes. I've tried adjusting the ENB and it helps but only a little and only if I turn everything under lightsprights to the extreme lowest settings under intensity. I've tried removing the ENB, the problem remains. I've tried removing RLO. Problem remains. I've tried turning off bloom in the launcher options. Problem remains. I've tried dimming the lights under gamma, and that just makes everything else too dark and the light sources are still a bit painful. I've even tried dimming the lights in Vivid Weathers and get the same as reducing the gamma. I've googled for hours and found several issues of this happening in Old Skyrim but rarely did I find any real solutions. Obviously something is haywire somewhere. I'd appreciate any help. I'm not sure what information would be helpful so let me know anything you need to know and I'll post it.My graphics card is GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition and my OS is Windows 10 Pro. I did follow the suggestions made by the author of Re-Engaged as to how my Graphics Card handles Skyrim SE. LeddBate
Your GPU is plenty powerful. I doubt that's the issue. I think RLO is the culprit. However, the last time I used RLO was in Oldrim. So I can't be sure that is the issue. If it is, removing RLO and it's patches/dependencies might not necessarily get rid of whatever triggered the problem. I presume you don't want to give up on your character and accumulated saves. So wait a bit and see if someone else has a stronger idea of what could be wrong. If no one else can help, here are a few possible options: 1. Try Claralux by MyGoodEye. It's compatible with RLO (with a minor exception, read it's compatibility section) and it allows you to manually adjust individual lighting effects.2. Press the "nuke from orbit" button as a last resort. Erase your game, mods and mod organizer. Reload everything. However, this time only add a few mods, plus RLO (and perhaps Claralux.) Now go to Dragonsreach and see if the problem occurs again. If not, make a save, exit out and start adding mods. Keep loading back in every 10 mods added to see if the issue suddenly pops up. Obviously, this is a last resort since it's a lot of work and ends your current campaign. So wait awhile before going this route to see if someone more knowledgeable can help you out. CyrusFyre
I'm not too terribly far into the game. I've done the opening, Bleak Falls Barrow and travelled to Whiterun and was on my way to check out the watchtower when I nearly went blind. *sigh* Nuking from orbit is not ideal but if I must, I must. I need my eyes more than this save. I'll look into the suggested mod and see if anyone else has any bright ideas (bad pun intended, sorry). Thanks for taking the time to reply. Edit: I've looked at CLARALUX and that is a great mod. Even if it can't save my game it is still a great mod to have. Thank you for that. ^_^ Edit: I've checked out CLARALUX and it really is a neat mod, I'll be using it from now on. But it doesn't solve the problem, although it helps with fires. I can tweak the lights so that they aren't as painful to look at. The real issue the is the Candlelight spell and spells with similar effects. They are absolutely blinding to behold. I'm going to try starting a new game without RLO and see what happens. That I had no issues with the game at all until I entered Dragon's Reach where Farengar cast that blasted spell seems odd to me. After he cast it things went completely haywire and all lighting in that game is messed up, even if I load a save from a time before entering Dragon's Reach, which was naturally my first reaction. (And I quit to desktop and fired up the game anew to make certain that whatever had happened didn't carry into the newly loaded save.) But it was still there and now happily persists in all of those saves. Skyrim SE why can't you play right? :wallbash: Edited March 15, 2018 by CyrusFyre

I do have the Nvidia 1070, I am your little brother ... lol ... ... back to business. Have you tried to tweak your game menu options ? Have you tweaked your in-game display settings and see if BRIGHT is too high ? I use Skyrim Re-engaged ENB and I have to be very careful when I change things; one mistake, and I will have exactly what you have. It did happen to me before. Everything was too bright and way off. What I did was to reinstall it, watched the video and start using it. Before, I was changing the brightness for day, night, etc. and that was my mistake. Then I learned that there is a function that allow you to make nights darker or clearer, so that was the way to go and problem resolved ( the same for days ). Also, I had Vivid Weathers and thru this mod, this kind of settings are allowed so I had to be very careful what to change or not so I would not conflict with my ENB settings. If that is not the case, I would recommend to look into your Skyrim Icon Menu Options. Personally, this is my setting : 2560x1440 resolution, AAA = off, Lens flare = off, Godrays=off, Textures Quality = Ultra and Distant Texture = Ultra ... everything else = high.My in-game menu display settings : Bright ... less than 50 % ... there is a slide bar so, less than the half, a bit less. Depth of field = off ( bar all the way to the left position ). Vivid Weathers = increase saturation, gloom = off and use ENB as I said before. Why AAA = off ? Anti-aliasing filter, when set to ON, it will make your textures softer. Same principle that photography cameras. If the sensor filter has been removed, the pictures will be sharper. The only thing the AA filter does is to remove the jagged edges and they are almost imperceptible unless you looks very closely. The other thing that plays a rol in your display, is your monitor. What kind of monitor you have? I do have the Viewsonic 165 Hz setup to 144 and the brightness and gamma are set very low so I can compensate. My recommendation is not just to look into your mods, but other things as well that plays their part in the entire scenario.
jjb54
I had similar issues, and discovered my Video Card was the issue. It was being " over pushed " with " light " w/the RLO and ENB's and such. When I removed them ALL - ( at the advice of a friend ) - " Suddenly " the glare and overkill of lights was gone and the game looked pretty awesome. thangkhi1214
I was hoping you have ELFX installed because I had the same problem and I found out it was the ELFX that was causing the blinding brightness.

Oh, I did try ELFX as well and it did the same thing, over charged the lighting .. now I just use my card and nothing more and it's pretty awesome. jones177
Hi I use a GTX 1080 ti. In my game with a Reshade/ENB combo, all had to do is switch off bloom in Reshade to get a good balance. I have the same ENB/Reshade setup on my computer with a GTX 1080 & I can leave bloom in with it. Later

lemoninamelon
FIXED (for me at least) I had the same issue. This happens every time I go into the Ragged Flagon and the Tavern in Whiterun. I go to a door leading outside, wait until 8:00 AM, (not necessary but it's easier to tell lighting) open console, enter TEOFIS, exit console, open console again and type TEOFIS to turn it back. Lights will still be bright but if you go through the door, it should hopefully return lights to normal. Didn't work one time but I did the process again and went through a door into "Skyrim" and it worked. This worked for me multiple times. I'd tested many options such as load order, disabling, deleting, and downloading mods, and nothing worked until I tried this method I stumbled onto while I was playing. Hopefully this works for you and anyone else with this issue, if so, spread it around because this issue seems to go back pretty far. (also, not sure if the quick save is needed but I did it in my fix so I figured I'd put it here). Edited March 21, 2019 by lemoninamelon
