auggiedoggie74
Vortex cannot find my G, H, I, or J drives, even when one (all) is (are) specified to be searched. It could only find the folder "Skyrim Special Edition backup cleaned core" on "D" (storage) drive even though I told it to NOT search that drive. I uninstalled Vortex, restarted Win 10, placed a clean "Skyrim Special Edition" directly onto "C" drive, re-installed Vortex, and told it to search only on "C" drive. And it can't find that!!! I have had MO2 working in SSE on the "J" drive, and MO and NMM working on Oldrim on the "G" and "I" drives, but I can't install Vortex onto anything other than "C" drive, exactly where I DON'T want my games, or their utilities! And it won't search my gaming drives. I've seen the Search Bar flash for an instant. One time it showed "C" and "D", but it no longer displays any drive identity letters. So, is it really searching? Or is Clerk Maxwell's Demon just bloodyminded? If I could get MO2 to work with LOOT in SSE I'd take Occam's razor to the demon and stick withMO2! Thanks for reading my rant.auggie
HadToRegister
but I can't install Vortex onto anything other than "C" drive, exactly where I DON'T want my games, or their utilities! Download the version of Vortex that lets you install it on any drive.
auggiedoggie74
Bozhemoj!! I've been fruitlessly kicking this pig around for a week and they put out an optional version YESTERDAY?
SkunkMonkey
They've had the manual location install available for at least the past 2 versions IIRC. My problem was that a new public page for Vortex was created and I was still looking at the private beta page. d'Oh!
HadToRegister
Bozhemoj!! I've been fruitlessly kicking this pig around for a week and they put out an optional version YESTERDAY? Nope, it's been available since day one, I wouldn't have installed it otherwise
auggiedoggie74
I have had a copy of Vortex since they first dropped it onto The Nexus. I don't recall anything other than a lone download being on that page. Anyway,I installed the "mobile" version onto my "J" drive along with a functioning SSE install, and installed 51 mods planting them in a folder on the same drive so that everything was on the "J" drive.I deleted the backup copy of SSE off of "D" and fired up Vortex, telling it to look ONLY on "J"ALL it finds now is the original Steam install on "C" and the paths to the "C" version are locked in.Vortex will only "manage" the install on "C". It won't start the install on "J" (though going directly to SKSE in that install works fine.)AND "Sort Now" just blinks once when I click on it. One would think that it might have something to say about my collection of 51 mods, but, nope! It's just a Christmas light!I'm done with Vortex for the time being. I'll go back to MO2 and deal with its problems.Hope you guys get the knots worked out of Vortex. I'll look in again next year.
