Karimov is one of the world’s worst dictators, he’s even boiled opposition activists alive. Yet he’s propped up by millions of dollars from the US government, which pays him for military transport across the country. The latest round of brutality against his country’s women has turned the global spotlight on this monster. Let’s use this awful moment to persuade his biggest backer to ditch him.

 

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can reinstate military sanctions and push the US and other powers to lift any and all support. She has already publicly condemned Karimov for human rights abuses, and this most recent assault on women's rights -- a topic she champions -- only ups the stakes. Activists estimate tens or even hundreds of thousands of women were sterilised secretly when they went into the hospital for a routine procedure or to give birth -- waking up with no idea that their uterus had just been removed. One Uzbek gynecologist admitted, 'Every doctor is told ... how many women are to be sterilised ... my quota is four women a month'. The use of arbitrary arrest and torture is so widespread that women don’t speak out for fear of reprisals, and foreign journalists and human rights activists are routinely thrown out of the country.

 

It doesn’t have to be like this -- the US could play hardball with Karimov, who relies on the steady flow of money from transit to Afghanistan to fund his lavish lifestyle. The human rights horror show in Uzbekistan has gone under the radar for years -- but we have a real chance to break the silence now, using the explosive BBC report that details forced sterilisations, and stand with the brave Uzbek women who have dared to tell their stories in the face of stunning oppression.

"tens or even hundreds of thousands of women were sterilised " entire population of the country = only 29 million. lets assume its 50/50 men/women, that's a huge % to sterilise without anyone noticing...

the boiling people alive bit is true apparently according to google, but the rest of it is complete bs...

 

well this email gave me a lol, so thought id share :), i got it on my phone so i removed all the links & pics etc before forwarding to my pc. the sad thign is someone , somewhere, is touched by this story & is opening their wallet now to donate... o.0

Haha...wow. First well written spam I've seen in awhile. Lately all my bf's family members' Yahoo! e-mail accounts have been hacked. Most of them are "I got robbed in some random country, please send me money" lol

yeah lol, although why would they lie about something so stupid.... you cant even shave the back of someone's head without them noticing, how the hell do u remove a uterus ??!?!?

 

at least the robbery ones "could" pass as a true story, this one sounds like an urban legend lol!

"Removing" it isn't isn't like just lopping someone's nose off either, it's an organ that's right in the middle of the body and removing one would be a highly complicated and time consuming surgery taking several doctors-and leaving very obvious physical markers, like significant scarrification.

 

That's also ignoring the really glaringly obvious part-that the uterus factors into the menstrual cycle, and the removal of it would have an extremely noticeable effect.

I excercised my google tic and found it circulating on blogs under "Google News" which is hardly legit, some almost verbatim to the quote also minus the stupid tax links, and nothing on Snopes.

 

Was abbout to poo poo it until I found this, nice to know that some entrepreneurial scammer saw an opportunity there. :(

I excercised my google tic and found it circulating on blogs under "Google News" which is hardly legit, some almost verbatim to the quote also minus the stupid tax links, and nothing on Snopes.

 

Was abbout to poo poo it until I found this, nice to know that some entrepreneurial scammer saw an opportunity there. :(

oh wow.... now i feel like a massive d*** head.... i thought it would be impossible.

 

i just checked the links on the original mail, none of them post to the avaaz's proper site, just some rubbish "mock".

 

this is now the worst spam ive got, i actually hate the person that sent it to me. Originally i thought it was a "hey im a rich prince and need some cash to open my bank..." made up rubbish i normally get, but taking a real problem where people are suffering, then imitating they're charity to make a quick buck... that's just sick...

 

i made a small donation to the official site, i feel so bad about it.. not to mention theyre campaigning against CISPA, just makes it worse theyre trying to help me ( and everyone else online.. ) aswell ><.

Good. People need to stop having so many children... Especially stupid ones. I'd know, I just got out of high school not too long ago, and if you think the future looks as "bright" as these children are its a pretty dark place. I've seen it. :armscrossed:

 

But the boilings... This is why I feel having people in absolute power is a mistake. Why does it seem like watching the news is sometimes like peering through a window into an uncivilized mess lacking common sense stuck in a cycle of continuous failure at modernization? These are things we must ask ourselves.
