Negitive comments on mods

Doesn't goes that in more of the way of some sort of online bullying debate? I mean what else could be the point? When people just don't like the mod and say it, doesn't matter if reasonable or not, who cares? Just cheerleading things doesn't rise up quality anyway. When i see a problem which is easy to fix for even a absolute beginner, i told them. But there are enough cases where people just don't care what they do and just thing, the world should also enjoy their first steps into modding something. Most of these wrong texture new item stuff is made on purporse, why should someone do such thing? And how many "Imperial Palace Guard Armor playable" did we see already?

If I post "I don't like this" in the comments under a mod what have I actually achieved? the answer is nothing, no one cares if I like it not, the comment has added nothing to the site and would quite rightly be seen as spam. Cheerleading as you call it does do something positive, it's encouragement, also if someone makes something for you then it's common courtesy to say something positive in return.

Only time I ever really comment on a mod is when it's something I really enjoyed. If the mod doesn't work, I always just assume it's a user end error. Be it user error, conflicts with other mods or problems with my setup(software and hardware).

Whenever I have a problem with something, I tend to just things together until they start working again. Hardly elegant, but it usually works well enough for me. Only time I really get any problems I have trouble fixing or outright can't fix is when using the more complicated mods, like Settlers. Then, even if it's more a problem with the mod than my setup, it's really unfair to leave a negative review. That is because of my setup, I lack the skill and attention span to properly diagnose the problem, so posting I have.X problem is going to be pretty freaking useless for the modders.

I install the mod, do what i gotta do to make it work, and if i enjoy it i comment and endorse ( which i personally "try" to do, but i dont do it all the time, because of that 2 hour thing. And my memory :P ) I have also commented on some folks mods with positive feedback, and they took it well and befriended me, and asked me to do some work for them. Which i appreciate. I dont point these things out to boast or anything, it is just things that happen when you get active and remain positive in the community.

I write, when I'm not experiencing writer's block. Back in 2001, I got attacked viciously by someone and I unfortunately let it affect me. They were so nasty in their criticism (they didn't even try to be constructive) that it made me block for almost 4 years. Some people just don't realize how deeply negative (without being constructive) comments can bite. And unfortunately, some do.

There's a lot of mods I don't like. I have a certain style that lends itself better to things that in my mind I can see fitting into the lore without making me think "I might as well be playing a different game." I do keep an open mind and if something outside my normal tastes appeals to me, I try it out. Occasionally I come across a mod that makes me wonder "How in the world is this even allowed on here?" but those are rare and tend to be of the sort that can be triggering (causing negative emotions or memories related to an unpleasant or frightening events or situations in a given person's life) and I don't expect people to live their life around my issues. I give them a polite pass and move on. I don't do anime or JRPGs, so I usually pass those without comment, too. Sure I wish there were more mods suited to my style, but I'm SOL because few people are inclined to create them, and I can't art or mod my way out of a paper bag :P

While i do visit some message boards that are seen as rude or trollish (Don't go to RPGCodex unless you really want to get really mad, really fast) I don't bring that attitude with me here. If I dislike something, or downright detest it, I keep my mouth shut and move on. It isn't worth it to me to get banned over a few words.

Negative comments on mods should not be accepted at all and should be removed by moderators. Only positive comments should be accepted. This is already in the official rules of Nexus.

If you having nothing positive to say, say nothing and move on.

If you want to post something critical, ask yourself this:

Is it objectively true and is it actually constructive?

"Anime sucks", "I hate MLP", "Sex mods are icky" =NEITHER. The same goes for all the disgusting messages one gets when posting anything that is "different".

I've seen many a mod on Nexus sites that I found to be unsuitable for my setup or just not to my taste. I just pass them by and get on with gaming. If I'm REALLY grossed out, I'll distract myself by looking at pictures of cute things.

There's been a few mods on Skyrim Nexus that me seriously wonder about the mental or emotion health of the creator. But then I just shrug it off and go look at Memebase or I Can Haz Cheezburger :D

We don't agree on politics, but as long as we can agree on I Can Haz Cheezburger you'll always be cool in my book :D

The funny thing is, the stuff in some mods, if it's in a movie or a novel, doesn't bother me a bit. I am unsure what the difference is, but there it is.

Back on subject, for the most part, I just don't get into manga, anime, or JRPGs enough to fully appreciate the mods based on them, aside from the talent and obvious hard work. There's a few I like (usually the more serious or grim ones like Berzerk or Full Metal Alchemist) but mostly it's the 'cutesy' stuff that finds its way into mods, and it clashes with my own ideas of what 'fits'. However, I won't slam the modder, or the mod, even if such were permitted here. I will make positive comments if the mod really strikes me in some way.

I have no issue with sex mods. Sane, consensual sex is beautiful and fun, damn it. It's part of life. If society as a whole wasn't so repressed, it would likely have a much bigger inclusion. Not as, errm, entertainment material for the lonely or those too poor to pay for porn (two negative slams I seen on it quite often on Nexus and elsewhere) but as a realistic and positive part that adds immersion. I don't use them because I'm usually too busy running around and questing :P
