A Hard Choice!?

 

What would you do

If you had to choose

between

a miserable life

or death?

 

I do not have the answer

but if forced to make a choice

one day

I hope I will have a strong

desire to live

and to try to

turn misery into something better.

D is for important Discoveries that we make in our lives if we are open to doing so.

G is for Goodness which we need at least to try to achieve.

Lucy, Wendy and Kerry (their English cover names) were sent new instructions and information. Their former handler was found dead and it appeared that the three were being hunted down by some kind of threat. Reinforcements were on their way but agreements had been formed and the triplets were join with Lucky Eddie as soon as they could.

 

The three sent out tentative attempts of communications, offering alliance against the new threat, and were instructed to go to a particular hotel at a particular day and time. That was two days' time so they spent some hours acting the tourist, keeping their cover story strong, while also doing some practice fighting.

 

They were practice fighting, seminaked in leotards, in a large chamber that they had hired under a false identity. They fought with fluid grace, beautiful and sexy but so fast they were often unseen in motion or seen as just a blur. They did some practice fighting with martial arts weapons and other weapons, including using handguns, and submachineguns, as hitting weapons. They used a basic firing range with the same guns, being silenced. Then they switched to specialised anti-undead weapons like spikebows, spikeknives and special dart-tubes.

Secret Service Agents turned and shot the false US President to death even as it struck out, somehow 'sensing' that it had been discovered. It fell and burned away even as it did so. Other doppelgangers were being tracked down, others had been tracked down. Efforts to capture the infiltrators failed and so no interrogations could be attempted.

The information soon got out to the public and a major shake up of the White House, and US Federal Government, began. A panic spread across the USA and then much of the world. Doppelgangers did much less harm than panic, mobs and scapegoating was soon doing. A large scale program, a wary alliance between many elite factions, began hunting down doppelgangers and any other such threats.

A fortune was made from the sales of devices that were supposedly could help one detect a doppelganger. Most were soon banned, became criminal to have or use, as they led to the injury or death of innocent victims.

The ever nervous stock markets plunged until emergency economic regulatory agencies stepped in to try to protect economic strength and integrity.

The search for the real US President, and others, found only dying bodies in strange capsule devices. Attempts to heal all failed until a mysterious stranger briefly appeared to heal all of them. The amazingly recovered victims would take over a year even to begin to be their old selves. A new US President, carefully checked, came to power in the White House.

Lucky Eddie fired at the famous, influential, businessman who was not at all what he seemed to be. The powerful gun blasted dead the doppelganger, who was harder to kill than a typical human. The figure showed its true form as it fell, though the clothes and other gear did not change.

 

The scale of doppelganger infiltration, through out much of the world, has proven to be far greater and successful than generally expected. The doppegangers had managed to penetrate the majority of major government, corporate and other organisation in the world. Even as they were being hunted, the undead entities were sabotaging, killing and causing other damage that they could get away with.

 

This included releasing lethal viruses from laboratories, laying explosive charges, hiring professional assassins to assassinate people, poisoning water supplies, launching deadly computer viruses into the internet, unleashing outbreaks of zombies, causing fire storms, sending small armies of mercenaries to massacre people and too much else.

 

The businessman doppelganger had poisoned twenty-two VIPs, including CEOs and government ministers, along with eight others at the same meeting. Only fast action, with new medical treatments, had saved almost half of them.

 

Eddie stepped over the body of a dead CEO, and looked out over a splendid view through armoured glass, that came with the expensive building and property. As far as he, and many others, were concerned many victims were no real loss at all but the world system was suffering badly; it had not been in a good condition in the first place. In the distance smoke was spiralling up from a factory complex, a police centre and an important metro railway hub. Even as he watched there was another explosive blast and soon another spiral of smoke was climbing up into the sky.

TiSuzane led the sweep for 'sleeper infestations' in the population of the settlement but covertly so, under the cover of simply meeting the people. She did not return to the TARDIS but had four more androids come, with two more dogs, bring two flatbed adapted golfcars packed with goodies. These included not just necessary equipment and supplies but toys for the children, some adult luxuries, decorations, art craft supplies, recorded datadisks and five fold-up electric mopeds.

 

The moral boost was much needed by the community. TiSuzane, and her people, did some repairs and started training locals with the assistance of two super virtual reality portable rigs and a hypnoteaching device.

 

TiSuzane was soon using nanobots, and microbots, to help her in the sweeps for sleeper infestations. She found them but only a small percentage of those there had them. A kind of 'immunity' appeared to be amongst most folks there, against the infestation, that she could not explain at that time.

 

What she did discover was of some surprise. The infestation was designed, developed, by Timelords. Were the Timemasters involved? Problem was that the Timelords had been around for an amazingly long time and had utilised an amazingly variety of types of technologies. The infestation arose, seemingly, from a more exotic kind that never became mainstream for the Timelords of Gallifrey. That would make it harder for her, and the Doctor, to learn more about the problem and to gain some kind of solution but she was resolved to do so.

 

The children loved the toys, all designed to be altered in various ways to become more unique, all designed to help push the creative learning process. TiSuzane found herself talking quietly with some mothers while helping to change dirty nappies.
