I am taking a short break from writing Zombies From the Sky! Will get back to it before too long! I need to review it to make sure the plot does not become over complicated, too quickly. I suspect I will return by ending Story Two and starting Story Three.

I am no longer writing Not This Earth but will be using the characters, and other features, from it as part of my new story of Bigtropolis.

Bigtropolis: One

Zero 1.1[1]{1}

Sweeping over the night clad city, untouched and untouchable, beyond just invisible, the GlobeEye observed beyond just 'seeing' or 'hearing' or 'smelling' as any mortal lifeform might do even with the assistance of Bigtropolis standard technologies.

There were varied areas of darkness and light but the very brightest, and very darkest, were least common of all.

There were inhabited areas of humans, semihumans, demihumans, nonhumans, and things difficult to classify.

There were areas accessible to all, areas open to some, and areas open to none; in the same way there were hidden areas.

Blocktowers, block-complexes, bridges, highways, freeways, raised railways, subways, water canals, aquaducts, garden squares, courtyards, domed farms, processing complexes, industrial complexes and much more was viewed by the GlobeEye.

It picked up a tiny, unusual, flicker of energy but moved onwards as if spotting nothing. Yet, as the GlobeEye recorded the flicker, so 'others' gained knowledge of it. Security considerations stated that the GlobeEye must not give away evidence that it had spotted anything unusual; that was simply because there were 'factions' that existed that could detect even a GlobeEye even if local mortals could not do so.

The unusual flicker, of energy, was close to the center of the great Bigtropolis Central Park being based roughly on the New York Central Park of the Old Earth; except this Central Park was over 1,000 times bigger and with some amazing features.

A big gracefully ugly saucer, of an aeroship, soared gracefully high over Bigtropolis Central Park.

A group of harmlessly crazy, colourful, skilful Fringers ran a market settlement in the lamp lit night. People came there, locals or tourists, working or not, welfare folk, and others. Animans, animal-humans, were fairly common amongst the human Fringers and accepted easily as equals.

The exotic flicker of energy had taken place not far from the Fringer market settlement. Nothing disturbed the animals, the plants, or other lifeforms there.

The paramilitary supertroopers of Special Weapons Armour Team Fifty-Five, or SWAT055, entered the fringes of the great park, in a semiwilderness area not open to the public except in a very limited fashion. Soon two platoons, and three squads, of supertroopers were pacing towards where the 'ultra classified incident' had taken place. With them were special animals, robots and other forms of support.

Bigtropolis: Two

Zero 2.1[2]{2}

Deep, in the Undercity most ancient, in a vast temple of distorted dimensions wrapped in dark shadows, something stirred. Neither truly good, or evil, the metallic tentacled 'thing' awoke to the alerting sense of a tiny, but important, disturbance in the energy fields of the megacity. It stirred, reached out with one tentacle, and an eager follower pressed into its grip a large ornate receptacle of strong, black liquid; the ancient entity took a big, long, sip of coffee and then sighed with contentment.

Humans could be troublesome but they had brought, with them to the city, at least a few good things. It stroked pleasure, briefly, into its follower and then ordered a nice breakfast of bacon, eggs, on toast with a side order of fresh double fish eyes and baked ooooob tentacles.

Even as it consumed its repast, and followers massaged tentacles that it was not using, the ancient one considered what could have happened and why. It did not expect to get any immediate answer, clarifying information, and it did not do so.

Bigtropolis: Three

One 1.1[1]{3}

Supertrooper Captain Lance: "Code Rain Clash, I repeat, Code Rain Clash! We have been driven into an unknown..." Strange radio interference noises. "Have taken no casualties but eight troopers are unable to continue combat..." More strange interference sounds. "Pink kangaroos are attacking our robots, tipping them over. Power armour is turning...." Hissing crackling sounds. "Having trouble focusing mind on... conventional wisdoms of current social philosophies. Request immediate reinforcements of savoury beef cakes and vanilla ice cream... Lieutenant Francis is taking off her armour and... lieutenant please... don't stop that."

The big impressive fatigues wearing man, Marshal Flanxk, sat in his special command chair, in the special SWAF (Special Weapons Armour Force) command chamber. He had just heard, for the fifth time, the last set of radio communications received from the vanished SWAT055. Two platoons, and three squads, had just disappeared with out a trace. They were not only amongst the paramilitary high elite but they were extremely valuable.

Around him there was no real movement except the flicker of some displays. Operators were working consoles through cyberlinks or just hands-eyes, doing so with extra quietness in order to allow the Marshal some 'thinking space'.

SWAF High Command were not the only ones extremely unhappy, and nervous about what had happened. What made matters worse was that the last radio communications had been broadcast in a totally non secured fashion. The Bigtropolis Internet was super busy with 3DYouTube having gone 'viral' with fools doing commentaries on what too many had picked up. The deeper concern was what various powerful, often covert, factions had made of it.

Two recon squads had gone in after the vanished group, along with a dozen stealth drones, but nothing so far had come of it. That is except the information that some Fringers had also vanished about the same time and others had reported muffled sounds of explosions but could not say where it had come from. Park Rangers had reported that an area of flora, and even fauna, had vanished away. The recon supertroopers were due to meet up with some elite investigators of the XFiles Investigations Agency, or the XFIA.

The supertrooper was supposedly proof against hallucinogenic gases or other biological threats just as the supertroopers were supposed to be heavily resistant to psychic influences. As clones they were also supposed to be program conditioned against sexual desires which showed not all expectations of such things were met.

Flanxk had no idea of what had happened, of what was going on, and he hated it. He had some of the very best people, hitech, and other resources at his command but so far had come up with zilch.

One odd clue was that no other superclones, be they supertroopers or of other kinds, had gained the impression that the vanished ones had suffered in any way; quite the opposite, it was like they had experienced some kind of bliss.

Then he remembered something, that is something that was seemingly not important but might lead to something that was; there was an officially mothballed military-civilian shelter bunker beneath the very center of Bigtropolis Central Park which meant it was right beneath where the strange events had seemingly taken place. The hulking muscular man made contact with somebody, at once, the other being one who could verify quickly, and efficiently, if his idea was worth following further.

Bigtropolis: Four

One 2.1[2]{4}

Scullie crouched, in her standard survival fatigues plus other survival gear, and examined the soil there in the clear area. Plants, animals, had vanished from an almost perfect circle of ground but there was no appearance, no 'feel', of violence having been carried out. The attractive brunette, who was what the electronic tabloids would call slimly muscular voluptuous, that too many male eyes were on her body but none of the power armoured supertroopers were amongst them. If anything they seemed oddly protective of her, both males and more numerous females. There was a whole platoon of them, that is 13 supertroopers.

Scullie took up a pinch of soil and sniffed at it. There was nothing obviously strange about it except that there was a feint oddness about it, a scent that reminded her of the burning of some kinds of oils.

Muldor crouched also, running a compact hitech instrument over the soil being just above the surface. He was frowning softly with an expression that told Scullie that he had found nothing of any real use.

He was her husband, she his wife, and they had been working together as a married couple for a few years. Such arrangements were not typical but the government had given them authorisation to do so because they worked well together and got results.

They had been working hard for hours but with no real results. This was no 'big thing' because they had just started working to solve the mystery. The men, ogling her, were a mixture of park workers being interviewed and visitors, with a few women amongst them. There were a few other XFIA people there being investigators and support staff along with some bodyguards.

The area had been sealed off to the public for hours but there was most of the great attraction for them to enjoy. The Fringers market settlement sold items to the investigators and others there.

A Civil Police hubcopter hummed overhead, moving fairly slowly. She wondered what it was doing there when the case was not in the jurisdiction of the Civil Police; they were doing no more, were authorised to do no more, than to seal off the area on the outside. Even the few visitors there were above a certain security status.

As she often did, Scullie knew something violent was going to happen before it did.

One of the supertroopers raised a portable quad missile launcher, aimed the device up at the hubcopter, and launched two missiles in rapid succession. Seconds later the supersonic smart projectiles struck the flying machine and it literally disintegrated in a flash of energies.

Most there crouched or just stared in shock. Muldor had been watching his wife, and had read her facial expression enough to prepare for trouble by bracing himself.

The supertrooper, who had used the portable QML, calmly reloaded the multiple mode weapon and went back to quietly being there. Scullie did not bother to ask questions, and neither did others, for the supertroopers would never answer such; if they had information to communicate they would do so.

The reason, for the destruction of the helicopter, would come soon.

Bigtropolis: Five

One 3.1[3]{5}

They awoke to find themselves with unusual, sometimes quite exotic company. That is the supertroopers of two platoons and three squads. They found themselves to be in an old bunker complex somewhat altered by the floating rainbow baby figure, always surrounded by other floating babies of one colour each. They knew, through memory impressions, that they had been abducted but so as to rescue them from a mysterious evil force that had been trying to find the small, floating Rainbowbaby.

They were enhanced, somehow, as was all of their gear. They at once communicated with their command people only to learn that they were being searched for, that the complex that they were in was being sought out.

Captain Masendo Lance stood in dull rainbow coloured power armour as the Rainbowbaby slowly orbited her, sometimes turning upside down but always facing the supertrooper. The captain had her helmet visor open and even time the Rainbowbaby was in front of her, she blew into the small one's bellybutton. This caused the Rainbowbaby to laugh gleefully and a slight tremor to run through the whole massive complex.

The supertroopers were moving around the rejuvenated regenerated complex now complete with green neoplastic toy soldiers that were life sized and active. They were World War Two type figures with a variety of weapons and tools also of neoplastic. The original source, inspiration, was a box of small plastic toy soldiers found near a big map table; clearly they had been used to plan some kind of campaigns back during that terrible war.

Then there were the supertrooper-babies who were small, air marching, chubby muscular baby figures dressed like the supertroopers. Lieutenant Aristo, and his platoon, were soon kind of in charge of the supertrooper-babies; Lieutenant Daddy Aristo took to his new responsibilities with amazing smoothness and efficiency.

Around them stretched a large chamber with primitive reel to reel computers, great big printing machines, desks with bulky black telephones and electromechanical typewriters, rows of filing cabinets, lightly padded chairs, wall charts, wall posters, work benches and some large machines of other kinds.

It turned out that the complex had been partly a secret research development subcomplex, hidden beneath the more known one that was also a secret. They were in the less secretive main complex that itself hinted at some mysteries, some oddities of research and field investigations.

The Rainbowbaby stopped, in mid air, and the captain reached out and turned 'her' the right way up. Following this came, of course, a blowing into the small one's belly button and the 'proper' responses.

Then the captain spoke. "You came to this place for a reason."

The Rainbowbaby glowed briefly and sparkling energies briefly surrounded the supertrooper officer. The lieutenant allowed information to flow into her mind and then lit it go; that which she could comprehend, which was important for her to comprehend, remained. She was startled. "You were here before, just passing through, when the humans here tried to capture you with deception and strange, unstable, technologies. You escaped except that the foolish humans captured 'something' very dangerous. Not all of those humans were mortals and it was the few lesser immortals who did the foolish thing. Now you have returned to regain this 'something' but more for the sake of mortals of this wonderful, awful, silly city."

A big reel to reel computer machine transformed, with a sparkling shimmer, to become a big chunky robotic entity.

Bigtropolis: Five

One 3.2[4]{6}

Plastic army soldiers were busy unsealing armoured doors that had been welded closed; it seemed that even in the less secretive main bunker, that some areas had been very sensitive security wise; but why weld them closed like that with not just direct welding but large plates welded over the door joins. Supertroopers, a platoon of them, were ready to deal with what ever came through that doorway, when it was cleared, if anything did so.

The Rainbowbaby turned away from the lieutenant, suddenly bored and distracted, to start slowly drifting away but the officer followed the small one, knowing that is what the Rainbowbaby wanted her to do.

The newly created robotic humanoid, Robocompnoid001 according to the big new label on various of its plates, began to speak out the data that had been in the old fashioned reel to reel tapes but it did so after decoding them in just a few seconds. The data, that was revealed, was just general organisational stuff for the complex but even in that data there were some odd inconsistencies. Certain kinds of supplied resources made no sense if the complex was of a more standard kind, even a more known kind of research development base. Some of the names, numbers, were simply unknown to the supertroopers which did not surprise them at all; the crazy history of Bigtropolis was full of secrets, mysteries, and seeming contradictions.

Lieutenant Daddy Aristo, and his supertroopers, did marching exercises with 100s supertrooper-babies marching through the air, with them, at supertrooper shoulder height.

As exotically weird as everything happening there, seemed to be on the surface, somehow the supertroopers found themselves accepting it all as quite normal. Anyway they could 'sense' that there were secondary, more subtle, purposes behind everything that was happening. Also there were 'things' there but not yet revealed to the supertroopers by the Rainbowbaby, if they would ever be.
