Bigtropolis: Twenty-Two

Two 5.1[5]{25}

Military forces entered the complex, along with special civil forces and specialist units. The Bigtropolis Central Government (BCG or the BigCG) took control over much of the old complex through the establishment of a special authority council. Other elements, of non government organisations (NGOs) and corporate types, also came into the complex.

The Rainbowbaby moved onwards before the newcomers fully arrived, taking her followers, 'pet companions' and minions with her. Such as cats, rats, mice, and bats had begun to appear to be with the Rainbowbaby. The SWAT Supertroopers, and XFIA, people vanished with her, and those with her, as they moved firstly through the elf place and then beyond to a bigger, even older, human complex; this complex was a lost one, having been lost during the crisis caused by the part failure of the Terraforming of the NewEarth. It promised to be full of very valuable resources of multiple kinds.

In a great chamber were rows of store-recharge bays with robots such as protectrons, eyebots, servotrons, MrHandys, MrsNannys, and others, most of them being basic remote-robots as guided by supercomputer network-systems. There were also transport machines, other machines, some warmachines, and some exotic things being all in special storage.

For the first time the Rainbowman showed himself, materialising with a big smile on the chamber floor. He was a rainbow skinned, rainbow clothed man dressed as a circus ring master inclusive of tophat and cane.

Then he bowed gracefully to the Rainbowbaby, at least one aspect of her, as she zipped around him and asked what gifts he had brought to give her but with out bothering to speak out loud about it.

The Rainbowman bowed again and then clapped his hands together. With a sparkling shimmer materialised a great big, neat, stack of rainbow coloured, cube shaped, containers each being 1x1x1 metres in size or 2x2x2 metres or even 4x4x4 metres big. The Rainbowman vanished, dematerialised, even as the rainbow containers materialised. The Rainbowbaby acted as if this was quite natural and nothing to be concerned about.

The Rainbowbaby lay direct claim on only a relatively small amount of the containers, having them taken to one side of the big chamber where a small skyship was carefully stored, it being a very valuable resource because only a very few such machines remained to be used by the post Terraforming Crisis factions.

The XFIA Team explored, gathered data, and were escorted by supertroopers and plastic soldiers as they did so, along with some flying baby figures, and curious animals plus some others.

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Three

Two 6.1[6]{26}

The Rainbowbaby, in all of her 13 shapeforms, had now 13 miniature GlobeMinieyes keeping her company being one GlobeMinieye per Rainbowbaby. These were 'negotiated gifts' as given by GlobeEyes but passed to the Rainbowbaby through the Rainbowman. Then there were thirteen FactorGlobes, each of which had many clever abilities working alone or with other mechanisms.

Scullie, and Muldor, had information spread out on a big old type metal table as old type data and newer type data. Holotapes shared room with holodisks, hardback books with Ebook readers, electromechanical typewriters with desktop 3Dcomputers and so forth. Technologies had shifted in direction and had not simply advanced further. Such historical contradictions had puzzled a small minority but most seemed to take in such matters with out any deep questioning of them.

"This goes much, much, deeper than just the Rainbowbaby and the artefact, or artefact, that she lost control of." Scullie frowned softly. "Something is niggling at me and that 'something' is informing me that..." She shrugged it off. "We have returned to the biggest, deepest, mystery of all when it comes to the NewEarth."

That is the legends, the stories, of the NewEarth did not add up; there were contradictions, gaps, irrationalities in the story of the NewEarth Terraforming Crisis of which differences in technologies were but one feature; why had there been strange changes between the pre Terraforming Crisis era, and those of the era following the crisis, in Bigtropolis? Out, in the NE Wastelands, no such changes had seemingly taken place. For example protectrons could commonly be found out there but were rarely found in Bigtropolis common.

Now they had found a huge complex full of PreTFC technologies including oddities such as androids of different levels of sophistication, from Alpha to Delta, vertabirds, holotape projectors, and even a couple of atomic rocketships. But it also held other, rare, forms of PreTFC technologies such as antigravity skycraft.

Muldor shook his head, just a little. "Do you ever have dreams that everything is somehow not real?"

Scullie gave her husband an odd look, partly being obvious surprise. "Yes, sometimes I do! Perhaps we should be asking other people if they ever have such dreams?"

At the same time it seemed to be both an odd idea and yet somehow compelling. They were soon deciding who would ask who the questions, of the two of them.

In the distance there were rainbow containers being carefully emptied in order of stated contents and priority of need. Most of the contents were replicated items already accessible by the increasingly larger group. A large group of cats were watching the unpacking from a safe distance after being firmly, but gently, ushered out of harm's way.

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Four

Two 7.1[7]{27}

Lucky Eddie woke, from a much needed short sleep, to a strong clue that the Rainbowbaby had found him. She, an aspect of she, was floating horizontally above him with her face looking straight down at his. Small baby figures were orbiting her, some of them being supertrooper babies, while a GlobeMinieye floated above her along with a FactorGlobe. There were also supertroopers, plastic soldiers, and others there along with Lucky Eddie's people and the strange figure of Shentbarb.

They had escaped to a large utility chamber partly filled with long abandoned, lightly rusty, machinery and pipes. Water dripped from the ceiling in one place but flowed down to a drainage hole and vanished away. There were some old, cracked, bones in one corner as left behind by a predator or something else that had fed upon rats and other such creatures.

Shentbarb was obviously very nervous of the Rainbowbaby and then he turned to flee, to run away. With a sparkling shimmer he collapsed and changed to become a doppelganger, a living-dead shapeshifter.

Lucky Eddie smiled at the floating Rainbowbaby. "Thank you sweetie for helping very much. I already knew that Shentbarb was fake, was a doppelganger, because we found the real Shentbarb as a dessicated dead body that the doppelganger probably fed upon as it copied his identity. We also picked up something 'wrong' with 'him' and the creature made small, but important, mistakes. Yet you helped because you are truly wonderful."

The Rainbowbaby accepted this as a reasonable observation but was still pleased by the compliment.

His mind filled with some new information. A shimmering energy gateway was ready to send them all to the complex where the others were but they needed to use it soon lest the 'enemy' detect it. Lucky Eddie gained the impression that the 'enemy was both very dangerous and that it was linked to the strange creatures that Lucky Eddie, and his people, had fought earlier.

With the stunned doppelganger as a prisoner, they were soon all gone to the complex where the others were.

Just a few seconds after the energy gate vanished, a blacker than black Shadowbaby floated into view in the big underground utility chamber. With it were some of the half formed creatures but also glistening black plastic things like twisted, deformed, versions of the plastic soldiers and other figures that the Rainbowbaby had created.

The Shadowbaby screamed out in enraged frustration, then melted down one of the deformed plastic figures just because it could.

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Five

Two 8.1[8]{28}

An ancient 'gateway' opened inside a great, distorted, garishly decorated, archway of blood rock. Through the shimmering gateway came striding supermutants, slithering zyclops, cyborged radbeasts and power armoured berserker raiders along with fighting robots and combat androids.

In command of them was the Shadowman who came with his own force of shadowpawns being weaker, but still dangerous, versions of himself.

The force came with plenty of resources including carrier robots, service robots, service androids, and cyborged slave Wastelands humans.

They came into a deep part of the mysterious Bigtropolis Undercity where thrived, in places, exotic and sometimes 'fallen' entities. Not all would welcome the intrusion of such a force.

Even as the last of the newcomers left the gateway, and it deactivated for when it was active it could too easily be detected by dangerous entities, the first of the attacks began.

Fast moving packs of wererats came as rat-humanoids with arms and armour, massive radrats charged with great snapping fangs, massive radcrocodiles did the same and there were hodgepodge fighting robots along with deranged human warriors, many of them being cyborgs.

But the attack quickly halted and there was no fighting as the Shadowman reached out to easily influence the dark mentalities, to have them halt their robots. Recruitment was very easy with the few strong resisters being quickly killed by their own people. As the Shadowman had easily predicted such would happen, he had resources to bribe the fools with and did so to help them believe in what were false promises for their future.

So more future evil was seeded in that dark, or dimly lit, series of underground spaces where once a grand underground city had thrived with a people who had thankfully long vanished. That is if the term 'people' could fit the monsters that dwelt and worked there being living vampire lords-ladies that could reproduce their own kind, though with difficulty. Even Shadowman disliked the weakened feel of their presence and doubted that the entities sent to attack him actually dwelt there.

No, some other dark master had sent them, perhaps even the Shadowbaby who liked to have 'fun' while most likely 'testing' the Shadowman yet again.

He scowled and spoke to the Shadowgirl, a scantily clad and coldly beautiful woman, who emerged out of the very shadows. "Do you think that this was Shadowbaby amusing herself?"

Shadowgirl shook her head. "No! The Shadowbaby is still infatuated with me and has informed me that it was not her. She has all of her efforts focusing on dealing with the Rainbowbaby who is more powerful than she is and deadlier in other ways, despite appearances indicating otherwise. The Shadowbaby only admitted, reluctantly, that the Rainbowbaby has out tricked her at least once though she refused to give details of her 'humiliation'. The Rainbowbaby has also gathered powerful allies and many rich resources. No, as was always feared, something else is out there that is linked with the Rainbowbaby's lost 'toy of toys'. That is how the Shadowbaby puts it, stressing that the so called 'toy of toys' are most dangerous and that what mentality tricked the Rainbowbaby into giving them up must have been most cunning."

Shadowman scowled softly. "Or most treacherous. Will will leave here now, with our new allies. This place... there is something that is very wrong with it as if something is still here, something that is perhaps more evil than we are."

And he was more correct than he would have guessed and in a way that would have deeply surprised even him.

The setting of Bigtropolis Central Park, an underground base from the last major war, and other facilities below that!? There turns out to be an ancient elf complex deeper to one side and seemingly also a deep complex from before the Terraforming Crisis.

 

Appearance of the Rainbowbaby, her avatars, her extensions, seeking to recover something of vital importance that she appears to have been tricked out of or is that the case!? The 13 GlobeMinieyes and 13 FactorGlobes that now go where her 13 selves go.

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Five

Zero 8.1[8]{29}

The Bigtropolis Presidium met unofficially, in a large assembly chamber that very few Bigtropolis citizens knew about, where they were joined by civil service, military service, technical service support, and other leaders. The SWAF commander was not there as the organisation was under investigation by the Presidium.

The Bigtropolis President was brilliant, canny, hard working, but also very egotistical. His moderate political party was part of a political alliance, of three parties, that had been in power for decades but the alliance was fracturing mainly thanks to the President's actions such a proposed policies deemed 'unbalanced' and new laws deemed unconstitutional.

President Tranzent II knew that his time, as President, would soon be ending with the next vote of no confidence backed up by unconstitutional charges being laid against him in the Bigtropolis Supreme Court. He sat at the big ring shaped table and, despite his official position, found himself being largely ignored and sidelined; people knew he was soon for the big drop and only a few of his most dedicated friends, and followers, supported him. Even they were obviously convinced he was soon to be no more.

Tranzent II seethed inside. He believed that he was being betrayed and that he had done nothing wrong; in his eyes all he had done was to try to make changes that would both improve the megacity and his own status. All such attempts had been crushed but, thanks to his secret new allies, he had made special preparations against the 'treachery' now being instigated against him.

The Shadowman had met him twice, assuring him of the ShadowEmpire's full support. The Shadowman had 'understood fully' that Tranzent II was a great leader being betrayed by small minds.

The President smirked just a little, figuring none there noted such expressions, but he was very wrong about that!

The meeting went on as the situation in Bigtropolis Central Park was discussed but only in general terms. The President did not even consider why this might be so let alone that it might be because he was there.

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Six

Marshal Flanxk had come to the deep hidden complex, being guided there by the Rainbowbaby through the superclones. A large force had come with him, sneaking through the megacity underways to do so. They had brought as many resources as they could, especially vital resources. "There are special forces units in the complex that we abandoned but also scientists, investigators, security specialists, and many others including techies and mechies. They have vanguard hitech stuff. The corrupt fool of a President is not behind this. The orders are coming from what is often called the Bigtropolis Secret Government."

The imposing Marshal had retreated from an official investigation that seemed both intrusive and guided by forces antagonistic to the SWAF and those that it served, along with its allies such as the XFIA.

He went on speaking as he sat, with the others, at a great big hitech meeting table of circular shape. "Torchwood has become focused on what is happening here, in the center of Bigtropolis Central Park, but it has become drawn to other angles of approaching the mysteries here. Captain Jack Harkness, and his team, have confirmed that during the dark events at Saint Care Hospital, that you Scullie personally experienced, there were a series of dark incidents in the central part of Bigtropolis Central Park. Yet there were also 'good miracles' at both the park and at the hospital. Three stories speak of sightings of a 'floating rainbow coloured baby' that rescued people from terrible 'things'. Trouble is that recollections, by survivors of those incidents, were far from clear."

Essarelda, semiscantily dressed as she often was, sat close to her husband the marshal. Her attempts to communicate with the Rainbowbaby had totally failed because the small floating one was wary of her. Yet she remained calm as she had quietly gathered information, often by flirting with a few men and fewer women to successfully get information out of them. The superclones had made it clear, to her, that they wanted her to stay away from them and the plasticants ignored her.

Around them the big meeting chamber was quite full of odd technologies, most of them being inactive or semiactive.

One aspect of the Rainbowbaby was busy sleeping in Scullie's arms while another aspect sat lightly, but firmly, on Lucky Eddie's head with folded legs. Both Lucky Eddie, and the small one, were quite relaxed with this situation.

There was lots of available information but the problem was finding out what data was relevant to the puzzles that they were facing.

Two GlobeMinieyes floated above the two Rainbowbaby aspects, one above each, and two FactorGlobes were waiting quietly to carry out more tasks for the small ones such as efficiently making more plasticants.

The meeting went on!

Bigtropolis: Twenty-Six

Zero 9.1[9]{30}

Police Tactical Response Teams were advanced slowly along the garden bed bordered roads to the Bigtropolis Central Catacombs main gates. The rich gardens, of the catacombs, were considered to be a subsection of the Bigtropolis Central Park but were divided off from the main park by a bypass, a tramway, and a high thick wall.

It had been a tradition, for many decades, to carefully preserve catacombs bodies and now those bodies were emerging from their resting places in bizarre appearances of light rot and in rotting clothing and footwear. In the semidarkness of the megacity, where only a few places ever managed to get really dark, the zombies were attacking people, animals, were seeking to feed upon them. Gun shots rang out and zombies fell as normal police officers did what they could. It was soon proven that electric stunners, of various kinds, killed zombies at voltage levels that only stunned humans.

Though they killed people, none that were killed became zombies.

When zombies were killed, pale translucent things tried to flee from the dead zombies but did not get far before fading away.

Hubcopters, and compact aeroboats, moved through the air overhead. Police hubcopters shot at the living-dead things. Media hubcopters shot 3Dvideo for the 3DTV networks. Other hubcopters picked up the wounded, and others, to take them to safety; the dead were carefully put to one side, were quarantined.

The beautiful gardens were partly a scene of horror, carnage, and violence.

Seeing, but unseen, the Paleman watched as more zombies continued to come out of the catacombs, each being animated by a phantasm. He smiled an extremely unpleasant smile, a rictus of dire expression.
