Zombies from the Sky: Seventy

New Episode

Four 2.1[2]{73}

Sherlock Holmes studied the great stone chamber that made the group look relatively small in comparison. Massive stone statues, of ancient Romanard cult deities, were vulgar things partly covered with dark green clinging mosses and vines. Strange light came from crystalic globes hanging haphazardly from the stone ceiling high above. Heaps of skeletal remains, of humans, lay close to each of the great statues. With them were the remains of odd robes, robetunics, leather harnesses, and other gear including steel armour and weapons.

Signs of mass death were not just in those skeletal remains but in great, crude, murals depicting many humans fighting terrible monsters like tentacle equipped worms, glistening and rotting. There were robed mages using what seemed to be magic staffs and the steel armoured soldiers, many firing burning arrows from powerful bows. Yet even as the mages hurled magic fireballs, and steel armoured warriors fought bravely, the creatures were just too large and powerful for them. Humans were being ripped apart, crushed, and otherwise killed by the tentacles.

The mages, and soldiers, were trying to protect a great semienclosed metallic structure and inside that a sphere filled with strange, disturbing gases. Floating inside those was an overly pale white albino like figure with blood red eyes. She was beautiful, she was disturbing, and she was otherwise identical to the Oracle and her sisters. Yet the murals suggested that the scene was from many centuries ago when the Romanard Empire ruled Great Britain.

Tommitom, the tall and muscular Islander man with his brown skin and hair, shook his head. "Those symbols up there are like those that the darkest voodoo cults, of my home islands, used before they were destroyed over a hundred years ago."

Sherlock nodded. "Those ones up there are like Egyptian cult symbols. Those ones remind me of South American cult symbols of the Zaztek Empire. They are like, but not identical, to the ones that are more familiar to us. We must be careful in how we read the data before us. It would be too easy to jump to the wrong conclusions such as the humans are automatically good compared to the big creatures. I suspect it was a battle between two terrible necromantic factions."

Where the cage structure had been was nothing but a few pieces of scrap that had once been part of it. The impression was that the structure had been very strong so the forces that had destroyed it must have been incredibly powerful.

The group inspected some of the skeletal remains, steel weapons, robe fragments, and other items but there was something awful feeling about them and none were taken as the group departed from that place of mass murder.

Dear Pagafyr and ZippyDSMlee, I appreciate your feedback to my topic but in future could you please keep any lengthy discourses, between the two of you, to your own topics or better still to one of the pinned topics where I can become part of the discourse in a more public 'space'. You could refer to the pinned topic or even put in a 'link' to it.

I do not mean to offend you in any way at all by my words. Thank you!

:huh: I scanned collections of writings here that I keep on a home data system. A long time ago I wrote and asked people to be so kind; like you have written about here. I asked that they please not put posts between my longer stories posts because it interrupted the flow of the longer stories.

All but one of the people in my friends list honored that request. :huh:

After reviewing the old posts I see they all dropped me from their friends list. :huh:

I won't interrupt your streaming words again, but ZippyDSMlee is another story. :ninja:

Pagafyr, I was referring not to one, or two, posts but to a whole stream of posts, especially 'quote posts'. I appreciate you posting single, or even double, posts at any one time. Thank you.

Zombies from the Sky: Seventy-One

New Episode

Zero 16.1[16]{74}

Biomechtripods climbed up out of the ocean onto the golden sands of a tropical beach on a moonlit night. Lovers, caught by surprise, ran from the bizarre newcomers and were often naked or seminaked. The great three legged mechanisms, with multiple jointed legs and three tentacles, grabbed up some of the locals only to put them down safely after examining them in strange beams of flickering light. It soon became obvious, to the natives, that the biomechtripods meant no harm, at least not yet. So why were they there?

Soon the answer came and it was not a pleasant one but in a way it pleased; a glimmermist came towards the island, menacing and terrible, but as it did so the five big biomechtripods projected short duration beams of intense heat and light, including UV-light. The strange weapons struck the glimmermist's forward edges and there the glimmermist was soon being destroyed. Not long, later, the glimmermist was departing back the way it had come.

With out warning, the same way that they had come to the isolated island, they biomechtripods marched back into the sea and were soon vanished from sight.

The light brown native people 2way radio contacted the nearest island but at first were not believed. Then a local government official did listen and believed enough to pass on the message. It did not take long before a special taskforce was heading towards the island. Locals were instructed not to spoil any clues of the strange visitors including the great tripod 'footprints' and luckily some were saved from the local children.

Zombies from the Sky: Seventy-Two

New Episode

Three 6.1[6]{75}

Many Panjamari soldiers distorted, transformed, to become living monsters, unlifen damphirs, or undead vampires. Fighting broke out in some areas but it turned out that the Panjamari had never been allowed too deep into the Citadel or into the Freedom Island underground ways. As the three forces fought each other, those Panjamari soldiers that remained living, and undistorted, went voluntarily into quarantine.

Then came surrender, agreements, as all three forces realised that they needed to have some kind of working alliance with each other and the alliance already formed.

The Oracle made her way along a glowcrystal warmed-lit cave tunnel splashed, in places, with fresh blood and marked, in others, with the burn marks of explosions. The few dead, and wounded, and been taken away. Some reavers, animans, oomans and human soldiers followed her as bodyguards or assistants when it came to some of the animans and boneskinned oomans.

She was deeply concerned for while Toto had returned briefly, to inform her without words that Dorothy's return was delayed, Dorothy had yet to come back from where ever she had gone to.

The damphir triplets, and a few others that had gone with them, had set out to explore some rediscovered caves spoken of with fear by animans. The expeditionary group had seemingly vanished.

More comet-projectiles had begun to splash into the oceans of the world, an increasing number leading to more glimmermists moving across the surfaces of those oceans. A few comet-projectiles exploded onto land areas but nothing survived; fortunately very few people had been killed or wounded.

Suddenly there was a disturbing shivering, shimmering, sparkling effects that seemed to go through everything. The Oracle froze into stillness while the others looked around in fear, curiosity, and wonder. The strange effects ceased but the Oracle did not 'unfreeze' for some minutes later. Then she spoke out.

"An ancient sanctuary has revealed itself. There most of us must go, even those on islands other than Freedom Island. A reformed alliance will carry on the battle from there." Then she set out walking, the the same direction, again as she had an important meeting to attend but now the topic, of the sanctuary, would also be discussed.

The Cat #1

She paces gracefully through the tall grass at the back of the house, a prowling tabby tiger seeking prey to devour, to ease her hunger with. Her paws pad quietly over grass and ground, over a trail of small black ants and past a long lost plastic toy long faded by exposure to a bright hot sun. In the lazy afternoon crickets sing but otherwise there is mostly quiet except for the distant muffled sounds of traffic on a highway.

A long colourful selection of clothes hangs all raggedy from a clothes line, over dried in the sunshine and flapping just a little in a light cool breeze. Much of the clothing has fallen or has even been blown away in past years. The breeze does not disturb the cat but pleases her for it has only come in recently and the day has been rather hot. Her shadow falls briefly over an empty bottle and then she is halting and looking ahead intently past a long abandoned lawn mower. The shadow of the house does not quite reach her with its sealed up windows and its very slowly crumbling structure.

The cat darts suddenly through the grass and in moments she has her prey, a small wild grey mouse. She does not play with it for the feline is hungry. It has been a long time since humans provided her with such as biscuits and cat's milk that it could afford to play with its game. It has been a long time since she has even smelt or heard a human except sometimes strange ones moving in the distance in groups. She avoids such humans by simply not going too close to them for they never go close to her house. Yes, it has always been her house even if the humans did not realise it.

After devouring the mouse, the cat finds some water to drink and then she sleeps under the old garden table close to the skeletal remains of what had once been a human man living in the house. That was long ago also, back when she was little more than a kitten and when the humans all went strange, when some of them died and when most of them ran away, leaving the kitten all alone to survive as best she could. She sleeps partly on a raggedy, stuffed, doll that once belonged to her beloved little girl.

She misses the little girl!
