Or by it's own citizens whom are tired of people in power abusing their powers?

I'm not sure by what means, but based off the direction DC has taken things, in combination with the sea-saw the entire world is on something gotta give at some point. I don't see any major military conflicts other than maybe Iran, but if something were to happen Id see it happening with the major commodities of the world. Food, Oil, communications either at home or abroad.

I think any attack on DC is more likely to be perpetrated by it's own citizens, rather than some foreign power. Of course, that would require that americans get off their duffs and actually DO something....... Not holding my breath on that.

Once again, I find myself inclined to agree with you on all counts, HY. This is becoming something of a habit... :whistling:

When it comes to conventional warfare, DC Washington would be a strategic and logistical nightmare of an invasion to carry out. An enemy naval force would find it almost impossible to sneak up on the US mainland what with the US Coast Guard, satellites, US intelligence services abroad, friendly foreign warnings and other such factors. An airborne invasion would be almost unthinkable. The USA is hardly going to quietly accept any invasion. Supply lines would be stretched across a large ocean and be vulnerable. Statistically any invading force needs either overwhelming numbers, more advanced technologies or such factors to win convincingly. I can think of no such force on this world. The Chinese do not, as far as I know, have any amphibious or naval forces large enough to do the job; the Russians have lost much of their old naval and amphibious power, as far as I know.

I heard a whisper that a whole lot of penguins were planning to invade DC but they decided to go dancing instead!

I'm with the others. There is no true threat from terrorism. It simply does not exist. We have no military enemies anymore. If DC were to be attacked, it would be by American citizens.

I think that there is a possibility, albeit very slight, that another revolution could break out in America in the next decade or so. If the government continues along the path it is taking, it is just about inevitable.

I don't think the argument that Americans are too apathetic/lazy to revolt holds much water anymore. Tensions are rising at a rapid. It appears a lot more people are getting involved in things these days.

I don't think it is likely, especially not in the short term. In the long term, I think the people will take back control and change things up a bit. Maybe not much, but enough to let tensions fade.
