Cait's head is black?

Just loaded my game to find the skin on Cait's head dark brown, while the rest of her is as pale as ever.

 

Before anyone suggests it, I have no body mods installed. I don't have any "faces" mods, no better NPCs, or anything that modifies companions. I do not have the high resolution DLC.

 

Any ideas?

Have you tried the High-Res Black Face Fix? You don't have the DLC installed but maybe it still works.

In my game, dark faces occur most often on companions and can come and go within the course of a single gameplay. Think it is the result of too much information in your buffer (or some other guessed at reason).

 

Try exiting and restarting your saved game and see if Cait still has the dark face bug.

Happens on Xbox too. I seem to notice the brown face bug most often when forced to reload an auto or quick save, to the extent I quit using those saves and will now only reload from a hard save. Just a theory really, but since I stopped using auto and quick saves, I haven’t seen the brown face bug in quite some time. As Moksha said, the fix that has worked every time for me is to do a fresh save, quit the game, then reload my save.

I exited and loaded a save from a few minutes earlier. In two saves after this point, Cait had black skin on her head and neck. I guess I got lucky, as I've read some people going as far as to reinstall the game, trying to get rid of this!
