They say a man can is judged by the company he keeps. The same can be applied to games except their judged by their prequels and sequels. I STILL meet people who wont by Skyrim cause in there eyes oblivion is the worst game ever. I have met people who say they will only buy the next fallout when its 75% percent off on steam, Because obsidian messed up with New Vegas. Games are judged in public eye by there predecessors.

They're also judged by their sales figures. And every Elder Scrolls game to-date has far, far, FAR surpassed the last in sales. So, Bethesda probably aren't too worried about how their predecessors are judged at the moment.

When CODWAW MP failed, people never judged MW2 MP because of WAW's MP. Even if it's just different companies involved, same concept applies to Black Ops, nobody judged that by the failed MP of COD5.

So who's to say it'll happen to TES?

Just something a bit random but I am wondering.

Can someone confirm if this is a WoW clone or not?

It is.

Dont you think we should wait for actual gameplay footage before deciding that?

Every MMO currently out there is a WOW clone. This one will be too. I'd put my life on that (considering I put my life on everything everyday anyway)

I like MMOs. I also like Elder Scrolls. Sacrilege! Treason! :P

I'm going to give it a go. If it sucks, I'll go back to playing WoW while I wait for the next TES game.

I don't think it will destroy the Elder Scrolls. If Beth hasn't destroyed the series themselves with all the misses amongst their hits, they never will :D

I don't think it will destroy the Elder Scrolls, either. It may be a huge flop, but I don't think it will have any effect at all on the single player games.

It takes place in the Second Era, so anything that is done in the MMO will have little to no bearing on the future whatsoever.

I have been a fan of other single player games in the past that went to MMO, and I never looked back. One of my favorites was Final Fantasy. I guess it is still popular as an online game, but I don't really know or care. They lost my patronage the minute they made that decision; as will Bethesda.

I will not play them on line, I will not pay to play them on line, and I will not support on line gaming. It is just not my cup of tea. Whether or not it is the death knell for the franchise is another story. I rather doubt that; but still believe it is a big mistake on their part.

To take it a step further, it is my opinion that when Bethesda became involved with Valve I believe that they sort of lost their connection with their public, i.e. the gamers out here, and began to focus more on other aspects of their business. Of course there is nothing wrong with paying attention to your bottom line; but somehow I was not under the impression that they were suffering in that department. Anyway, I am just a bit disgruntled by their recent decisions; but doubt that they are overly concerned by my particular disquietude in that regard....
