Homemaker will never be finished?

Hey, I'm not reading through 15 pages of arguments, searching for an answer that may or may not be there.

The mod author is AWOL. No one has taken over development of the mod. However, is this author supposed to return to the mod, hand it off to someone else, or is this the best it will ever be?

Can a selection of other, completed mods replace it?

Thanks!

Been using Homemaker since it was released and never had a problem with it. Since the mod works as intended and NovaCoru updates the mod on occasion, the last version will be as good as it momentarily gets. Until the next update, just like with any other mod. Initial release of Homemaker was in November 2015 and the last update was in June 2017.

I find it odd that you say you've been going through some of the comments in search of an answer, but you don't say for which question you seek an answer. Plus, NovaCoru isn't AWOL. Has been online on the 1st of June which is a couple of days ago...

So, in the end, I don't quite get what you're aiming at.

Someone called Sharlikran has a few sticky posts at the top of the associated mod commentary that indicate the mod author is unavailable. I just realized those posts were a year old and therefore a bit misleading, apparently. Odd those sticky posts were left there, if the author is, in fact, currently active.

The mod does not appear complete—at least the UI portion does not. The same house icon is used for a number of subsections, there's a bit of redundancy, menu organization issues, and some expected build items appear to be missing—as far as I can tell. I'm using 1.55.1.

Maybe I expected Homemaker to allow more building than was intended.

Sure, some sub-menus of Homemaker have he same icons, but why would that be an indication of the mod being "unfinished"? Mods that were made much later, like Snappy Builds, have indeed more build options in a few categories, but Homemaker still has a lot to offer in Power, Decorations and other categories.

I also use SOEPack, CREAtive Clutter, Snappy Builds and some such, but personally I'd never stop using Homemaker because of those as I would be missing out on loads of other things.

Sharlikan is the one who built and maintains SKE, by the way. SKE and Homemaker kinda walk hand in hand and one needs to be carefull which versions to use along one another as they tend to steal menus from each other.

You should also have a look at Ethreon's stuff. Be careful with his Vanilla Extensions mod, though. It overwrites other mods of which the result can't be rectified with re-applying those other mods. It's only a minor inconvenience, as far as I've noticed, but still.

Just adding to JimmyRJump's last post; Several of Ethreon's mods require that you have a mod of his called Master Plan. In turn, Master Plan requires that you have Workshop Rearranged. Workshop Rearranged will make a lot of changes to your menus and creates problems for some people. Most people seem to really like it though. That's just an FYI.

Most of Ethreon's mods don't require Masterplan. I'm running Masterplan and it doesn't require Workshop Rearranged at all and I don't use the latter either. There is however a separate patch available for when you do use Workshop Rearranged in combinattion with Masterplan.

Interesting. The "requirements" tab for Master Plan shows Workshop Rearranged. I never tried to download it to try it without the requirement mod.
