Homemaker: Pier Shack walls don't snap to foundations properly?

Before I make myself crazy trying to build what cannot be built, I'll ask you guys if this is normal:

 

I'm just trying to copy the little pier shack from Nordhagen Beach. It's on a 1 × 2 foundation. if I use the corner wall pieces on opposite ends, I get a gap when trying add walls along the longer sides. The corner pieces overhang the shorter foundation ends by roughly half the thickness of a wall, causing wide gaps at the center of each longer side.

 

I've also used the plain wall pieces (no corner pieces) to do the same, and end up with a gap under the wall at each corner of the foundation. Nothing seems to fit properly.

 

Is this normal behavior for this mod, or is there another way to puzzle everything together I've just missed?

OK. You have to allow walls to overhang the foundation along the longer sides.

The pier shack walls are a touch difficult. You need to play a bit with 'em as they have more than one snapping point and can be added outward and inward to foundation blocks.

I simply cannot get those corner pieces to snap together. I suppose I can use Place Everywhere and close those gaps, maybe snap the roof back into place....

 

I ended up using straight pieces. There are tiny gaps left behind at the four corners, but they are hard to spot.

All right. I figured out what's going on.

 

All the vanilla build elements I'm used to are made idiot-proof as can be. You can rotate foundations any which way, and other build elements continue working as expected. This is not the case with the Homemaker pier shacks.

 

To use the Homemaker pier shack corner pieces, foundations have to be aligned properly, with the length of the floor boards running toward the short ends of those 1 × 2 structures. If the foundation isn't aligned properly, the corner pieces will not snap. Very puzzle like, but at least you can orient yourself by looking at the floor boards. Floor boards may have to match up to each other at the ends, if you build larger structures. I experienced similar peculiarity when building the Sunshine Cabins with the G2M - Workshop.

 

I'm thinking these corner pieces will allow fast assembly of little 1 × 1 beach cabins—fantastic for environments defined by tight build space.
