Hollowrogue13
Well, the file size of that vortex.exe is ok but the lack of an icon would indicate it's been damaged or it is being locked by something, my bet would still be on virus or antivirus (An antivirus software might get the idea to completely f*** up the file permissions on a file that it considers dangerous to ensure it can't be run, instead of moving it to a quarantine area). The error message from windows doesn't say the exe is invalid but that it can't access it which implies that something has a lock on the file or the permissions are so restrictive that your current account can't access it.You could try right-clicking and checking the security screen. All in all, this is pretty definitively a window problem, not a vortex problem. As it would turn out... it seems that it may have been Malwarebytes. After your last post, I remembered when I initially installed Vortex, Malewarebytes reported that it did not like that file and I told it to ignore it or something, So, I disabled my Malwarebytes, uninstalled that version of what it did install on my computer then installed the latest version again and it seems like this time it installed it properly and without any problems... *sigh* all that for such a simple solution... frustrating. Thank you for your time
HadToRegister
If I try to click on any of the three links mentioned in that very last post, I get this message Error message 2.gif so, though they ARE the ones installed in the latest install, they are in fact invalid... and, yeah this IS my computer and I am the only one with access to it and my profile should have permissions to run anything... I would think. So, I am kinda at a loss It might be your AV program denying you access.I've gotten similar messages from Kaspersky when running exes that it thought were questionable (registry editors/cleaners etc)I also never install to Windows\Program Files\ when I can help it. Grestorn
Why don't you install to C:\Program Files?
Hollowrogue13
It was Malwarebytes, as I indicated in my last response. Tannin42 pretty much figured out the problem. But thanks Why don't you install to C:\Program Files? and um, if you look at the posted pictures during the discussions with Tannin42 ( posts #7 & #8 ) ..it very obviously IS installed in "C:\Program Files" ( "C:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex\" to be exact ) which is where it automatically extracts to when you open the file "Vortex-1-0-15-2.exe" to install/re-install the Vortex version 1-0-15-2 application
