Recommended Posts

Hi i am finally done my Ryzen 2700 build.

New specs are as stated

Downgraded to Windows 10 check

Bought a 2700 Ryzen and overclocked it to 4.1ghz check

Bought the ram check, Kingston Hyperx Fury ram for 120$. Getting a second later this month.

Mobo Asrock x470 Master sli check

Still using a old antec 1200 case check

Power supply Antec 1000Watt modular sli crossfire ready

GPU GTX 1070 8gb Zotac

Sound card a Creative z, much better sound on second pci slot, so sli is out of the question.

What are you using to cool your CPU? I wouldn't be confident in the included Wraith Spire to adequately cool an OC'd R7 2700.

Your right i should swap out for a third party, any suggestions.

heck i might by another one that i am using for my older 8350 build.

I would go with Noctua, But they are apparently even more expensive in Canada.

Also if the PSU is as old as the case I would consider replacing it.

Why the soundcard? that Mobo should have equal or even slightly better audio, back in the days yes but for a soundcard you better off with the onboard audio unless you have a external DAC and such which would be better.

Yeah, Starting with windows vista, directsound went away. That forced ALL sound processing to go thru the CPU no matter how nice of a sound card you had. (for games/applications that use directx for sound.) Creative labs came out with 'Alchemy', which intercepted directsound calls, and converted them to openAL, which WOULD get processed by the sound card. Of course, it adds another layer of complexity to gaming.... with the expected results.... instability, odd sound problems, etc. But then, back then, computer hardware wasn't nearly so powerful as it is today. Using onboard sound is, in a lot of cases, actually BETTER than the expensive sound cards..... (depending, of course, on what Mobo you buy.)
