HadToRegister
I really really LIKE the "Downloaded" and "Update Available" tags on mod boxes now, so I can quickly look through lists of mods and see that I've downloaded then, or there's an update available. However, I downloaded a mod that was updated a couple of days ago, but it's STILL showing "UPDATE AVAILABLE"So, naturally I keep checking the mod page to see if there's an Update Available, which there isn't, the version is the one I've already downloaded.So...when I mouse over that "Update Available" it even says "The mod has been updated since you last downloaded it, which isn't true. So, how to make that go away until the mod is actually updated again? I've tried holding down shift and refreshing to see if it was a 'stuck cookie" or something, but that didn't work
TheVampireDante
Sounds like something's sticking, since that message should indeed vanish/change (to "downloaded") after you have the latest version of a mod.
WastelandAssassin
could this happen if the mod author didn't set up the mod version properly? and it would help if you could post a link to the mod in question . this will help us test to see if we can recreate the issue on our ends , as I don't think I've ever heard of this happening in any mod
HadToRegister
VIS-G It's in the Hotfiles section (could that be why?) and for me shows "Update Available"
vronykah
I have this happen and it usually is because a small fix or optional file is uploaded. It doesn't show under the "Main File" area, but if I scroll down, I'll end up finding something with a more recent date. This can be frustrating if the update/optional file isn't one that you want. A great example from my own experience is the recently released VIS-G Item Sorting. An optional patch (that I choose not to use) was uploaded after the current main file, so it still tells me there is an update available. I think it's based on date & time rather than version. itskitt
from what i noticed was that if the author updated the version say from version 1.0 to 2.0 but the nexus mos manager has it flagged as 1.0/2.0. than it will say update even tho you have the latest. I'm talking about in the web browser, on the actual website, where you see the green banner saying "UPDATE AVAILABLE"
WastelandAssassin
HadToRegister , it looks like the author of the mod has uploaded and reuploaded an optional file with the same mod version of the main file (1.4) after you've downloaded the modso it could be because of that I'll easily admit I'm not quite sure how the system works , and how it determines when an update is availablebut I'll try to find out how , and see if it is indeed an issue with the system
Pickysaurus
As already covered, it is most likely the author uploaded an optional or update file after the last file you downloaded and the site identifies this as a new file you're missing. There's not really a consistent way to track version of mods due to the broad variety of games we support and the very different ways users use the versioning system. So "newest" files is the most reliable. I don't think it flags for files uploaded to MISC though :)
HadToRegister
OK, thanks Staffers!!Is there a plan in the future to fix that part of the mod pages?Because NMM would have a notoriously difficult time with these kind of updates, or the same mod with different versions such as DLC and Non-DLC versions.I'm not sure how Vortex is currently handling things like that, I haven't really noticed.
