Crap. I got no clue what to label as my all-time favorite. I guess I could go with the original Diablo (2 was a horrible bastardization) which still to this day finds a place on my hard drive, or I could go with Fallout 3, which I've sunk many many hours into in my addiction, or System Shock, possibly the spiritual predecessor of all FPS-RPG hybrids (BioShock and Doom 3 are essentially System Shock 2, dumbed down). Or I could cite Doom, a true classic of its genre, and one of the first--if not the first--games I paid for with my own money. Should I even mention the old MicroProse flight sims, F-15 Strike Eagle II, and F-19 Stealth Fighter, which ate up so much of my youth? Or Gunship 2000, the first game I produced any additional content for (in the form of missions created with the expansion's mission creator)? How about SimCity 2000, arguably the best of the franchise? What about the original X-Wing, that kept me shut away in my grandfather's pc room from lunch time until bed time, with only a short break for dinner?

Too many games. Can't choose one. Especially in the flight sim and RPG categories.

After reviewing this thread, oh, god, how could I forget DUNGEON KEEPER?! I played both, and they were great. Take that silly RPG genre, and turn it on its ear!

Anyway, for clarity, my list from above:

Classic Diablo

System Shock 2

Fallout 3

Doom

MicroProse Flight sims: F-15 II, F-19, Gunship 2000

SimCity 2000

X-Wing

And to add to the list..

Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2

Starflight (Sega Genesis version)

Protostar (in many ways a Starflight 3)

And shall I mention... SYNDICATE.

I am a long time gamer, with a long memory, and would like to say it's a old title, but damn if RPG game mechanics don't seem to be improving every year, and champs are knocked down...

Many years after it's death, Looking Glass Studios Systemshock 2 held that dear position, to be replaced by the likes of Bioware products as they came out, with a brief period, where I thought Vampire:Bloodlines outshone them all till Mass Effect. I hate the elederscrolls, and have since Daggerfall. When it was announced Fallout would go to Bethesda, I was terrified they would turn my beloved fallout world into Oblivion with guns, but gave it a chance anyway.

All time favorite: Fallout 3
