hey guys,

Just checking in to say that I've been verrrry busy lately and haven't had a lot of time to spend on here; I just haven't had the time to really do anything at all with it in the last week.

I will return in a while and get back to work on the NPCs and dialogue... so don't think I just got bored and wandered away ;) although this mod is getting really big now, are we making a Legion version suddenly? :o

Um.. anyway, I'll be back soon!

No worries, hit your RL stuff first

nk: although this mod is getting really big now, are we making a Legion version suddenly? :o[/b]

Got some requests for it, & I'm looking into the feasibility of it. But it wouldn't be like the other mods. If it was made it wouldn't have any quests, all it would be would be the base mod, knocking out all the population and adding a lot of legion to locations.

Um.. anyway, I'll be back soon!

Good deal

Maybe just have one tugboat either at Callville or Boulder Beach, and 0-1 at Cottonwood. And I was thinking since the tugboat has such a flat deck with no cover, it would suck to be stuck on the boat in a firefight, maybe if there's room for it, add some type of chest high cover.

another minor detail: If the NCR takes over Hidden Valley some heavy troopers and military leaders can be seen around the Mojave with power armour taken from the bunker. Since there's Virtual Reality pods in the bunker I'd imagine someone found out how to wear power armour. Also it would be cool to have 1-2 vertibirds at the base if there's a flat enough and open surface for them.

That's something I always wanted to play with, the VR immersion pods.

But when I asked the Boomers about using them, they said no.

I don't recall if there was any dialogue about using the Brotherhood's simulations.

Would it be possible to make a repeatable simulation quest?

One that ports you to another map when you activate the pod?

I don't know what the Brotherhood one would involve, probably these kinds of simulation:

1. Power armor and gatling laser simulation.

2. Energy weapon simulation.

The Boomers were more specific on what their simulation was about.

They had all kinds of military flight simulators.

Although, the one they were using at the moment was specific to the Volare bomber.

So, you'd probably man one of the stations of the Volare bomber.

I think that would be:

1. Pilot

2. Bomb Bay Door operator.

3. Bomb release controls.

4. Tail gunner.

5. Other gunnery positions (whatever they may be). Bombers usually had another one above the wings, for 360 degree firing. Or one underneath the pilot station for forward firing.

As per the simulation, I'd figure with the Brotherhood, needing to train so many (in the east atleast), they would have a more expedient way to do so.
Why not a nifty Viewmaster-esque VR headset, that, when equipped before you sleep, takes you to the VR session upon wake up?

Then, if we wish to expand upon that, you could use various compatible holodisks that you could pop in which take you to a new sim(miniquest) that will buff a certain skill up with a perk. Adding backstory to various perks in the game (optional support for perks added by mods?)

This way you could feasibly involve many more perks than just power armor training. Think about it, you're training soldiers to wear armor through VR, why not train them to shoot better, hit harder, carry more, or learn special moves? Much better than using a cheat console mod, and more lore friendly, as well as more balanced.
The Brotherhood collects information and knowledge, but why? So they can toss 100 caps to a soda chugging vault dweller for a book on how to properly trim one's beard? This would give reason/immersion to perks, unique quest experiences, explain more why the Brotherhood collects knowledge and build upon the vr concept, all while being lore friendly.
Examples of sequences:

  • a cowboy defending his homestead from marauding bandits (explosives or weapons skills) (and I'd definitely throw my hat in to voice any of those), (reference to the cowboy from Zeta?)
  • a kung fu/samurai themed vr for those martial combat lovers
  • A Star Trek themed Mothership Zeta throwback where the aliens attack the crew and captain that shows up in the wastes on billboards (can't remember his name for the life of me) for energy weapons.

These would all be very minuscule areas (think a tiny version of Tranquility Lane). No larger than a room or two. The sessions would also be restricted to first person play (no need to change the PC right?) Sort of like the Dreamstride quest in Skyrim.
Learn now, through the eyes of another from then.

To tie into the various endings Legion/NCR would like to learn how to wear Power Armor, Legate/Commander sends you on a quest. For House, he already has a boner for tech,so any reason really. And for independent, the militia would need better armored guards.

Re: Virtual Simulators

To be honest it sounds like it be a lot of work for something that would be considered a diversion from the main game. It might be good to have later on but it would not serve any useful purpose for now. I also have my doubts that neither the Brotherhood or the Boomers would be interested in sharing the secrets of the VR simulators (unless they request something significant in exchange for it).

Considering the Legion's aversion to technology I would think that they would have no interest in acquiring this particular technology. Using the VR pods as the sole means of training troops would be the same as any modern day military training new cadets with only an XBox and a copy of Modern Warfare. Physical training is not something that should be neglected in any army and there's no point in training somebody to be a soldier if they become flabby while sitting in a VR pod.

Legion version of this mod: Set after Caesar takes New Vegas and Hoover Dam with your help, Caesar makes a coin in your image and promote you to his "right hand"/new position (No military command ex Legate, just a new title exclusive to the courier ("Mean Motherfu***r" lol) that demands respect within the Legion. Shocking the Legion soldiers if you play as a female and met with contempt from some.

Mod Begins* After the ending, you start in a new world space/area. (Separate from New Vegas) Your courier have been ordered to perform a mission with utmost importance, to stack the cards in the Legion's favor for the coming war with the NCR. With the help of a new Frumentarii companion, you undertake to sabotage NCR operations in this new area and to "recruit" tribes/different factions. Why the Legion would want to take this area can depend on whatever you guys (the team) want it to be (Trade route, Weapon/Armor stockpiles, "Secret Weapon", Resources ex Slaves etc.)

You find an alien device as a side quest (Play wild wasteland theme) that can teleport you back in time/sending you to a alternative universe. Sending you back before the battle for hoover dam, but because you've already completed the main mission, you can't start "veni vidi vici" again or any main quest ex Yes man path. This is so you can complete any new mods/dlc/quest that you haven't already done. If you want back to the new world space, the teleporter is somewhere in the Mojave.

Please tell me what you guys think. (Horrible fanfiction lol?)

Honest Hearts DLC: Needs to be modified to be able to help the White Legs (Get quest from Vulpes, go with Happy Trails, they die, the white legs recognize you, talk with Salt-Upon-Wounds/his second in command, get quests to help WL to wipe out Joshua/Daniel/Dead Horses/Sorrows. After doing this, talking to Vulpes, he will say that after Hoover Dam Caesar will reward the player for his/her service (See idea above).

Dead Money DLC: WotansGlory made this excellent mod which lets you play after siding with Elijah, id like to expand on this concept.

Also about the post-hoover legion victory mod that you are currently making, imo i think you should scrap that version. Make the House/NCR/Independent version. Then maybe a legion mod in a new world space, then expand on the dlcs.
