gromulos
Gromulos, you really come on a bit too strong. Maybe reading your own guides have made you enthusiastic about Wrye Bash, but I doubt you can speak for all users of Discord. I too have used bashed patches in the past, but it has not affected my reading comprehension or the ability to be polite. If I "come on too strong" in your opinion, well, that's just too bad I am a 55 year old, old fart, who is blunt and honest and straight to the point and I do NOT sugar coat everything Let me point out that LOOT and NMM both are great programs, BUT, just like it says in my guide "1) Loot is not 100% and if that is all you're using you're going to have many problems as you progress through your play through, BOSS is no longer being supported and thus is out of date with newer mods. With many mods loaded, you should be using 2 other programs, Wrye Bash and TES5Edit. Sort the plugins with loot then click apply." Wrye Bash / Smash / Flash can do SO much more for a stable game and play through than LOOT and NMM combined. Wrye by itself can:make a patch file, tell you if you're missing a master filetell you if you're missing a patch fileHelp you reconstruct a load order just by using your old or previous save file - I've done this myself and for several other people successfully very easilyAlso, don't be fooled, when Wrye does make a patch file it is doing a LOT more than just adding in mods:it adds in all leveled lists for itemsit adds in scripts so they do not conflict ( as much )it even adds in textures and meshes if a mods ESP points to them thereby eliminating such bugs as purple hands, red triangles with a ! and black facesBelow is an example, this is my current Fallout New Vegas bashed patch file and as you can see, it does a heck of a lot more than "just" making a bashed patch, EVERYTHING that has a check mark ( except for the tweaks section ) is something being added by a mod that the Wrye Flash Bashed Patch is adding in and handling to make the game more stable: So once again, making a statement like this "If you are using NMM there is no need to seek out a Wrye Bash solution." PLEASE don't Edited August 30, 2018 by gromulos
Moksha8088
Gromulos, the OP was asking how to install mods he had downloaded from a non-Nexus site. RedRocketTV gave a good answer and I was reiterating it. I was not denigrating Wrye Bash, but I was suggesting how to add the off-site mods with NMM which the OP wanted to use. New players need time to adjust to all the utility programs available. BTW, Good to see you are an older person. I enjoy playing the game as a senior citizen and I think Bethesda games should be recommended for older people. So if any younger players out there read this, then please recommend Skyrim and Fallout 4 to your grandparents.
gromulos
What triggered me was the fact you just flat out said someone did not need Wrye, people new to modding need it more than experienced modders simply because it will help their load order be stable where as an experienced modder either can do that on their own, or knows how to fix problems that a new person wouldn't know. For someone new to modding and installing a bunch of mods, and then have their game crash, THAT one thing right there can be a complete disappointment to them, I know because that's exactly how i felt when I was new and knew nothing. Thankfully the people in the NEXUS chat room, which was active at the time, were there and helped me. Believe me, i drove them nuts with my questions lol. The help I recieved in the chat room is what made me write my guides months later, I can not support Nexus financially but wanted to give back thanks to all the help I had recieved, my guides is my way of giving back to all the new players. Some of which have gone on to be mod Authors :) even to this day years later after making my guides, i still update them and still help people, even some times one on one through teamviewer, like the streamer from Twitch that posted in one of my guides :D
HadToRegister
RRTV and Mosksha are both right.Just download the mod from Beth net, then 7z up the esp and BA2 if there is one, then move the zipped up mod to a neutral folder, then open NMM, click on the Green Plus sign, import the mod to NMM, and now you can install/uninstall the mod from NMM, instead of FO4.I've done this a number of times with Beth net mods because I can't stand Beth net, and definitely can't stand the in-game "Mod Manager"Not sure why this even went off topic to Wrye Bash and save games that had nothing to do with what the OP asked. For making patches, I've started using Mator Smash's ability to merge leveled list and other stuff.I'm 55 and say things bluntly too. WesSeH
I understood the issue when I read it and I was a bit surprised by the suggestion of Wrye Bash as the answer to the (original) question. It just seemed odd that this whole misunderstanding was based on saying you don't need Wrye Bash to fix the original problem, it appears it was in no way said that you should never use it. It seems the whole thing was blown out of proportion by conflating an entirely different grievance. Which is a good recommendation to be using Wrye Bash for bashed patches. I run through my check lists of things to do when installing and updating mods of running all the tools when I need them like running body slide after I install new armor that require them and run loot and Wrye Bash last.
