Vortex not detecting TW3 installation

Hi Urizen,

Thanks for doing some more research and finding a possible reason.

Have you used the feedback system inside Vortex to report this? That's the best way of getting your issue straight on to the bug tracker that Tannin is using and the fastest way of getting a fix!

Aaaaaaaaand I´m back. Vortex for some reason can´t detect my TW3 install. So before I send in feedback, I´d rather want to know if it might be something on my end. So anything I have to look for in particular?

Yes, I do own it: https://abload.de/img/desktopscreenshot2018sqiwf.png

My setup:

Vortex on C: ( default install )

Steam on C: ( default install )

Games are on D:, E:.

Modfiles are on E:. ( Nothing I want to mod on D: so far ).

Some downloaded files are on F:.

Vortex is allowed to search C:, D:, E: for games.

Edith asks: For testing purposes I added the path manually. Anyway to remove that?

Few things on this:

- The latest Vortex (0.16.5) should find Witcher 3 GOTY based on steam appid 499450, have you tried with a current version

- Vortex uses different means to find games. It will check with the steam DB, check in the registry and search the disk. The disk search however is slow so Vortex doesn't do it automatically you have to click the search button for that. Otherwise the search paths don't matter

- My GOG version of Witcher 3 doesn't seem to create a registry key so disk search is actually the only way to find it.

- I just fixed a bug that caused the disk-search based discovery to not find Witcher 3 (and probably a few other games)

So yeah, for now you'll probably have to manually set the directory for Witcher 3.

Version was latest. I even checked the script in question to make sure it had updated. It had. Went into Vortex, hit quickscan and got the message no new games found or something akin to that. Tried a couple times, just to make sure it´s not a simple hickup of the system or Vortex lagging. *shrugs*
