capella6707
The Downloads folder can be anywhere you want, including on a network drive, which I do, as my computer is strapped for space. Just go to Settings -> Download, change the path and Vortex will move the files. The new path must be empty, by the way.

After reading about the new structure, in order to prepare, I set up my Vortex folders that way, so now the new Vortex will choke on the structure and refuse to work because the Download folder already has my mods in it. I just upgraded from 0.15.9 to today's release of 0.16.5. Believe me, I was a bit nervous about the whole "moving the downloads folder" process, but it went very smoothly for me! Previously I had my downloads folder in {network_drive}\folder\folder\Vortext\{GAME}. For the upgrade, I just set it to a different folder on the same drive ({network_drive}\Vortex) and it moved everything over just fine!

Yup, mine went smoothly too.But now I don't where the actual MODS are. Before I knew where the download mod archives were downloaded, and where the mod archives were unzipped and hard linked. Now I don't know where they are, ad I HATE not knowing where things are on my systemI hope they're not on my C:\ drive wasting space, because despite Microsoft being bound and determined to force any and all installs to go to "Program Files(86) or Program Files, I save it for my OS. Rattledagger
But now I don't where the actual MODS are. On the mods-tab, select any installed or disabled mod and either right-click and select "Open in File Manager" or click "Open in File Manager" at the top and you'll see in File Explorer wherever the mod is located. If you select an uninstalled mod you can only use the option on top. As for locations of downloads, open-up Settings and choose Download and look for the "Download Path". OK, thanks for that, now can I set my download folder back to my old one?LOL, FFS, if I just looked at the MODS tab in the Settings Tab, I would've seen the path. Ahearn1
I've changed my downloads folder and they indeed transferred over to the new folder and Vortex sees them but all of the mods have been duplicated in the mods list. I've restarted the app and the PC but they're still there.
Rattledagger
OK, thanks for that, now can I set my download folder back to my old one? I don't remember if it was possible to specify the full path, with example Skyrim going to d:\games\vortex\downloads\skyrim_downloads and if so you can't get exactly the same since now you're only allowed to specify the d:\games\vortex\downloads\ and Skyrim will automatically go in d:\games\vortex\downloads\skyrim and similarly for other games. Appart for this minimal restriction it doesn't matter if you're using c:\something\somethingelse or d:\somethingthrise or e:\quadsomething\downloads etc. Now the actual moving of files does take some time and AFAIK you do need to have enough space to keep original + copied files since files doesn't seem to be deleted until everything is copied-over.
