HadToRegister
So, I started out modding FONV, and everything was going very well, until my HUD mods decided to mess up, and then Vortex decided to start naming one mod ROBCOFUN 2 Fast forward, I can't get rid of the NVSE loader from the TOOLS area, it keeps coming back.If I close and exit it comes back as if it was never removed. I even removed it, then hit the refresh button, and it appeared AGAIN.I used REMOVE again, and this time it went away.Close Vortex, reopen it, NVSE is there again.I finally deleted it from the game folder as I can't save my game settings anymore, something about "There is no storage device selected, Settings will not be saved" and my Fallout.ini keeps getting set to "read Only"I'm 10 hours into this, very tired and irritated, 10 hours ago, I was getting ready to play FONV.Also, it seems that if you install a tool, and then remove it (by whatever means necessary), it stays forever in a list when you click "Add Tool", because now I have "NVSE", and "New..." as options when I click "Add tool" Downloaded NVSE and put it in the FONV folder, aaaaaaaaand starting up Vortex and it's back...right where I didn't want it.On top of that, even though it's set to PRIMARY, when I start FONV from Vortex, it starts the FONVLauncher instead, then I have to close it down, and start it again and THEN it starts with the NVSE Loader. So, some setting isn't getting saved somewhereIf I remove a tool from Vortex, I expect it to stay gone until I reinstall it from Vortex again. HadToRegister
It's definitely something weird with Vortex and NVSE, because I just removed the LODGen Program from tools, and it's gone, it's not even in the drop down list when I click "Add Tools", and it didn't reappear when I shut down, and restarted Vortex. So, naturally I just tried it with NVSE again.1. I "remove" NVSE from the Tools dashboard, it immediately shows up in the Drop Down list when I click on "Add Tools"2. I shut down Vortex and Restarted it, NVSE is sitting in my Tools Dashboard as if I never removed it.Just to test to see if the reason NVSE tool keeps coming back because it was set as "Primary", I made a different tool "Primary" and removed NVSE tool.Shut down Vortex, restarted it, NVSE is sitting in the tool Dashboard again.Apparently the only way to stop it from showing up in the tool drop down under "Add Tool" and to stop reappearing in the tool dashboard is to physically delete it from the hard drive. Tannin42
Just so I understand your first post right: You're claiming you have been spending 10 (ten) hours trying to remove nvse from the dashboard because that's somehow a terrible tragedy and you can't go on with nvse existing as an option and you found 10 hours worth of ways to try and remove it? Man, you really make the best posts... NVSE is among the tools that Vortex knows about and auto-detects. It's intentional that it appears in Add Tools after you removed it so you can restore it quickly. What's not intentional is that it automatically reappears, that's a bug. I'm grateful you reported it but why you have to make such a drama out of absolutely everything is beyond me. How is this bug worth more than a shrug or a raised eyebrow, the damage is zilch. This could have been a two line report to the feedback system... Regarding Robcofun: You already got a reply to this in the other thread and never bothered to answer my questions, why do you now feel the need to mention it in every post you make? Wouldn't it be easier to just continue the investigation where I replied to it? Regarding read-only fallout.ini: This is done by the fonv launcher and that's well documented, google is your friend on this. Regarding the launcher starting instead of the game: This is Steam and it's true for all the bethesda games you got there. If Steam is closed and you start the game exe then instead of starting the game it will start Steam instead and requests that to launch the game - only that steam runs the launcher, not the actual game. This too has nothing to do with Vortex.
UrizenDe
Regarding read-only fallout.ini: This is done by the fonv launcher and that's well documented, google is your friend on this.Vortex doesn´t account for that though. If you start the launcher first ( which is normally what you do with most Bethgames to get the inis, afterall some mods need to modify them ) and then activate Vortex` BSA redirection, you don´t get informed that the change can´t take with a readonly ini. Maybe add a little popup or something down the line informing the user to check the ini if its readonly?
