Nexus NMM => Vortex automatic?

Vortex SHOULD be able to import mods and load order from NMM.

I'd suggest to be careful. Leave NMM installed, install Vortex in addition to it and try to import settings. Uninstall NMM only after you succesfully imported your mods to Vortex.

TBH, in my case it didn't really work, but I tried changing folders in NMM before, which went wrong. So Vortex didn't have a working installation of NMM to import from...

BTW, I never regretted switching to Vortex. Very reliable and stable - and much more options, than NMM ever had.

ok, thanks. As I suspected. It's same as upgrade from Win7/64 to Win10: better continue with a long time working system of that you know the problems than switch to an unknown system with unknown problems.

Too much work for nothing, overall. There is no significant need to switch.

Well, of course there's no "need to switch". On the other hand, Vortex in fact has a lot of advantages over NMM.

Meanwhile it has basically all the features that made MO great, but with a much more intuitive and easy to understand interface. Vortex' profile switching is very fast and very reliable at the same time. Switching from one saved mod configuration ("profile") to another is a matter of one or two minutes now. In NMM, switching profiles could take hours - if it worked at all.

I've been using Vortex since its early alpha - and I got so used to it, that I don't want any other mod manager any more. ^^ Maybe you should give it a try when you're about to rebuild/change your load order anyway?

I just tried the import function. It takes a long time with a long load order, and since I wanted to do something else and restart the import later when I was AFK, I aborted it. The Vortex import window states it will not touch an NMM setup, but I didn't find that to be true. Even if I aborted the process, it should not touch it. When I next ran NMM, all of my plugins were deselected and re-ordered, so I have to run through the sorting process again.

I'll try Vortex on another login or another computer from the ground up.

I tried it when it was in Alpha but the import was a disaster because at the time my old NMM setup was a disaster. I just added a new SSD, video card an OS and then threw Vortex in to test it out. Im sure Vortex NMM Import works better than it did do but i think you are better off rebuilding your load order from the ground with Vortex.

I think youll get better results.

You can learn how the software handles certain things. Its actually a doddle to use, its taken alot of the hardball thinking out of modding my Skyrim.

I never tried to import from Vortex because I knew it was in Alpha state and it was buggy. I cannot advise at all about how reliable this function is but I have been using Vortex since it was out and I am not looking back.

NMM has been deleted from my PC and the only mod manager I am using is Vortex, which is reliable, easy to use and it is helping me to have a very stable load order.
