Vortex issue....

SO I tried to get Vortex running for SSE, got frustrated and uninstalled Vortex. Now my SE will not launch. Any words of advice on how I might fix this.

OK I got Vortex to see my mods, and now it's telling me I have a lot of conflicting files, and in NMM I never had these conflicts. I ran SEEdit, and LOOT and got no warnings there. I tried MO a long time ago, and I see what looks like messages from that like "Drag to another mod" but thats over my head.

 

Could use a hint or 5 thanks :)

 

This does look very cool, but frustration is the suck.

Hi,

 

I am assuming you have reinstalled Vortex and are now using it - judging from your posts.

 

The mod conflicts indicated by the red lightning bolt are conflicts where one or several mods are making changes to the same files. For instance, if you have several mods editing the same texture, you will need to decide which mod should "win" the conflict. "Winning a conflict" in this regard means going last. This is where rules come in. You want to decide which mod should load after all the others and thus override their changes.

 

The reason you were not aware of these conflicts in NMM, is because NMM does not indicate that several mods are making changes to the same files, but instead just goes with whichever mod was installed last / your choices when installing the mod(s). Vortex allows for more flexibility, even for conflict resolution on an individual file level.

As for your game not starting: How are you launching it? If you launch it via Vortex, does it simply not do anything? Or does the game rather crash on startup? Depending on which one it is, there are two different culprits that might be at play here.

I start SE from SKSE64, I always see a window flash on my screen when game starts, I assume it's the skse, then game would start with Bathesda logo, login screen so on. When I installed Vortex, I get the quick SKSE window flash as before, then nothing.

Even after I uninstalled vortex and re-installed NMM. FO4 and Witcher3 still load normally, as I never tried to manage those games with vortex.

 

I have reinstalled vortex, and used the tool to migrate my mods from NMM, but this is where all the conflicts are coming, and still no game start as mentioned above.
