tltrani
I thought I'd try Vortex, so I installed it yesterday and I really screwed up. I migrated from NMM incorrectly. I didn't realize until it was too late, that I ended up reinstalling all my mods. I didn't backup my data file (like an idiot) and I want to return it to the state it was before. (I made changes to Nifs, music, textures, etc. ) I looked inside my data files and I see that my whole game has duplicate files now, the ones I installed originally are called ".vortex_backup". Is there a way to restore my game files to the orig. state so I can continue my game? I haven't loaded the game yet, so my save file is not corrupted. I don't like Vortex, it's a little too complicated for me and I don't plan on adding more mods. My game was perfect the way it was, and I really don't want to have to start all over again. Please help, I want to uninstall Vortex and return my game back.
HadToRegister
Whenever trying something new, it's best to do it with a completely new game, rather than one you're committed to.When I tried Vortex, I tried it on a completely new install of Fallout 4, and left my other games that I was managing with NMM untouched, that way, if I didn't like Vortex, I could go back to my games without losing anything.Unfortunately in your case, because you imported your setup incorrectly, and then reinstalled your mods, you made it so you'll have to start all over again. And seeing as you already have to start over, it would be a great time to familiarize yourself with Vortex. It seems daunting at first, but there's help in the SUPPORT tab, and everybody felt that way about NMM when it was first released, myself included, after spending a day or two with it, it becomes as easy to use as NMM does.Remember when you started with NMM, it seemed pretty scary at first, but you grew into it the same way you'd grow into Vortex. tltrani
Yeah, I ended up starting all over again. I spend way too much time tweaking my Skyrim game than actually playing it...I need an exorcism :devil:Thanks for your advice and quick reply. Yea, thanks to Vortex, instead of spending my time tweaking mods, I look and see "I've only got 77 mods installed for Fallout 3? What else can I install?"Now setting up my game for mods involves me just going through the TOP FILES list, and downloading everything I want without worrying. MOD IT 'TIL IT BREAKS!!! DannyCortz
Excuse me, I am trying to restore some game files I accidentally deleted, I saw that I have some files that are named with this at the end. .f4se Example of one of the files I have, and there are many. is this one (Autosave1_B3CEA5C2S44616E6E79_CovenantHQ01_051611_20181126033648_50_2.f4se) My question regarding this is, if there is a way to active the save files trough Vortex and that particular file containing the f4se could turn into fos so I can restore the file I want to restore. No. The f4se saves are not game saves. They are Fallout 4 Script Extender saves. An f4se save file contains data created by f4se that are not part of the associated game save.
