Vortex does not install mods properly

problem seems more that vortex wont install the mods into the steam mod folder so the game doesnt recognize it as being installed. Had to manually move everything for the game to recognize, which means i'm better off using NMM instead of vortex

Vortex doesn't install mods into the game data folder. It installs them into the Mod Staging Folder. Prior to using "deploy" you will see nothing in the game data folder. However, when you "deploy" the mods, Vortex populates the game data folder with hard links that mirror the Mod Staging Folder.

And after you Deploy, you don't even need to have Vortex running. Just start your game as you normally would.

Unlike Mod Organizer, your game does not have to be run through the mod manager.

A lot of us like to start our games from the Vortex dashboard - but that is optional.

literally everything in that sentence is 100% wrong.

if i were you, rather than coming here to complain, i'd do some elementary research into the basics of getting started with vortex, because having done that, you've wrecked your game environment and you're in for a world of pain when you try to do anything. none of this is the fault of vortex, it's entirely on you because nowhere, in vortex managed games, are you obliged to do what you've done.

Well, if you spent any time reading the "MANAGING YOUR LOAD ORDER" section in the Knowledge base, you'd realize that you don't have to do everything by Install Order like you were forced to do to get things working in NMM

You can install your mods in any order, the big thing is, to make the rules properly and tell Vortex when it mentions that you have a conflicting mod, that MOD B LOADS AFTER MOD A, or MOD B LOADS BEFORE MOD A.

Learn how to solve conflicts when Vortex tells you about them, and you'll see how powerful it is.

Something that NMM couldn't do.

And from now on, I'm reporting everybody who comes in here swearing, it's getting sickening

I'm also having the same problem, I kept trying to get a mod to install deployed it and enabled it and it wasn't working, the moment i manually install it by dragging it into the proper folder and it worked.

Well, with what little information you gave, I would need to know

WHERE you have Vortex installed,

WHERE do you have your MOD STAGING FOLDER

WHERE do you have your DOWNLOAD FOLDER

WHAT GAME are you using it with

WHERE do you have the game installed

Etc..this isn't a psychic hotline

I am not sure what your point is. You provide no information to enable us to help you - and you necro a thread from last month.

If you do want help, start your own thread and follow this guideline:

Hello People,

I'm new to this whole modding scene/pc so i know fairly little. But i will say something is wrong i'm playing Dragon Age Origins and i'm using the improved atmosphere mod, Now originally i would just drag it straight to the override folder.

I then learn that this is a bad idea because it gets hard to manage so i download the DA modmanger at this time i have like 10 mods including improved atmosphere my computer is good enough in today standards, That's a lie it a bit s*** but in 2009 standards it on point.

So having all these mods and dragging them in an out of DA mod manager to try and make them compatible with each other. Got annoying so i downloaded vortex and let me just say its pretty fast a lot faster then the DA modmanager, But every time i installed and enabled the improved atmosphere mod i noticed a few things one of which was the fact that it was magically compatible with all my other mods.

At first i chalked it up to being far down on the load list so after i installed enabled and deployed Dragon Age, I quickly noticed something was off then i looked closely at Alistair and saw his Blood Dragon Armor was back to it's default skin and not the new skin in the improved atmosphere mod.

I then thought maybe i didn't install enable and deploy correctly so i uninstalled the mod then reinstalled it, I did this three times decided somethings wrong and in vortex i right clicked improved atmosphere and open file manager. This was the problem outta all of the files in that mod it only took 14 folders and 5 files those folders just lead to other folders there was only five files.

Just encase i was wrong i deleted every other mod to see if i was mistaken, I was not there are a great many files in the improved atmosphere mod i would know this because i feel like i spent a lifetime in them. I'm going back to modmanager now probably going to cry a little,

Currently 90 degrees out i'm in the attic my ac is s*** have a fan going no airflow up here which is partially my fault i sealed all the windows. Because bugs were getting in my room theirs a hornet nest in my closet, Luckily i use the closet for storage but every now an then a hornet comes in the computer is making my room even hotter.

I might die before, I get the mods working.

Edit: i also checked the override folder none of the files were there except the ones i mentioned.
