LeonTubrok
Ah! A constructive comment! "Have you got Vortex installed on the same drives as your games?"The hard link in settings was on the same drive as the game. However, if your saying vortex itself needs to be on the same drive to work then that would be a problem as some games are installed on C drive, some on D drive. But given readers above proved vortex is fine and declare anyone with a problem must be just not "clued up", I will not pursue this any longer (Iv removed vortex). After all, why do people bug test anyway! apparently you just wait till someone has no problems and they then tell everyone else it must be their fault. Im sure as vortex is apparently working fine for everyone the dev team will have known that games from steam can be installed on more than one drive and will have coded accordingly. BTW 1ae0bfb8, I didnt say vortex is implemented incorrectly, In MY experience its not implemented well enough yet, given the problems I had. And the issue was (as the heading suggests) the managed games going missing AFTER i transferred over from NMM) The doctor joke was a attempt to say dont bother responding if you havnt got anything constructive to say concerning the subject. LeonTubrok
Ok, I can see this is all going over your head, This is meant be a support forum, not " well mine works" I dont know how many ways I can explain this to you. Your wasting your own time. Take your own advice, go the the start and read it slowly and carefully. If you can see something that may explain how game profiles would go missing after a restart then by all means say so, otherwise forget it. LeonTubrok
OK, given the childish and just plain lack or support on here, I installed vortex again and tried to recreate the fault and here it is to save other people this harassment: SOLVED:Managed games gone missing is caused by changing the setting 'Multi-User mode' If you have a game set up with mods and you change from per-user to shared, It does NOT share your game setup and all are lost until you return to per-user. So in spite of it saying "if you want to share things between all users..." it doesn't, or a least in my experience it hasnt, twice. So if anyone wants to actually try this and confirm that would be great. At the risk of getting the wrath from those who think vortex is perfect, I would suggest the explanation on the icon for Multi-user would explain this better as to me "shared" would imply what you have already setup is ... shared! Grestorn
Vortex does NOT have to be installed on the same drive as you game. "HardToRegister" keeps repeating that "tip", which ist just confusing people. What has to be on the same drive as your game is the mods' installation directory. But Vortex will warn you anyway, if you try to put the mod installation path on another drive. @Leon: The purpose of the "Multi-User Mode" is, that if you're enabling it, Vortex will store its own data in a directory which is accessible to all users on the system (i.e. C:\Program Data), whereas if you use the "Single-User Mode" Voretex' data will be stored in your own user profile (i.e. C:\users\<user>\AppData\Roamin). This way, each user on the system has his own, separate modding config. If you switch the mode, Vortex doesn't see it's previous config, any longer, it looks in a different place and since there's nothing there, it starts from scratch, with no config at all. You can actually manually copy the config data by hand if you want to move from a single user mode to the multi user mode. But (as far as I know) it doesn't do that on its own - which is good, because it could mean overwriting a config the user might want to use again later. So this is just a case of not really understanding what an option does. Which means, it might be not be explained well enough. On the other hand, people tend NOT to read longer descriptions anyway, so there's really no winning for a software designer in such cases.
LeonTubrok
Thanks Grestorn That makes sense, As I was reading the explanation for multi-user shared mode it wasnt apparent that shared mode doesnt copy over your data, and returning the next day having changed multi-user mode at some stage threw me. The explanation is long i suppose but "this does not copy over your existing setup" may be worth adding.

Fielion
You must have something setup wrong on your system, because this problem seems exclusive to you. Try reinstalling Vortex and starting from scratch with a game free of mods, once you get the hang of it and see the benefits of Vortex, you'll get more confident in using it.... bulls***, today i found the same problem on my vortex. Yesterday everything was fine. Today i open it and my dashboard is empty, no recently managed games. And i did no changes, absolutely no changes. But under games, managed, i can see SSE with all its mods. And i can open it with SKSE outside of vortex. But inside my vortex no skse, no SSEEdit, nothing.
