Permission settings VS Mod Description Text

Hmmm I think you might be on to something with your caution of using this mods assets.

I thought I would guinea pig it for you , so I whipped up a quick mod last night for helping out the player fresh out of the vault.

And used the light switch to turn a street lamp on just outside there.

Gave credit and explicitly said I do not have permission to give permission to use that asset , but linked the mod.

The mod was more than just the light switch though , so not just for a light switch test.

But called it "LeaveALightOn"

Anyways ... I'm pretty sure I went through all the hurdles to the done point ... but still they have not added it .

And all I can think was the light switch asset ???

Look at this page -https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/12677?tab=description

It would seem the auto may have either not read or didn't understand the permissions section of the mod page setup. Mainly because they put zeros in the note/credits boxes. It looks like they may have just filled everything out randomly to try and publish the page quickly.

My opinion here would be that the description trumps the permissions sections. The activity log shows the author only ever edited the page once, when they first made the page, so both statements existed at the same time.

TL:DR - The description appears to be adequate to use this resource. Obviously, if the author returns and clarifies either way that'd be up to them.

Since the mod was published before the site overhaul and the addition of the permissions section, I would have to agree with pixelhate.

When the site was overhauled and the permissions section was added everything was automatically set to no and the mod author would have to make any changes manually.

That's not exactly how it works. There is no active vetting of your mod release by staff, before the page goes life. Your mod page still isn't published, because you missed a seemingly-required-by-now step.

As the reason for your mod page to still be unpublished, as shown right on top of your mod page in orange, now says:

Your mod is currently not published.

You need to complete the following steps before you can publish this mod.

Images - You must upload at least 1 image for this mod.

It seems you just may have missed one last hurdle.

So the conflicting permissions is the author's fault (at the time the mod was published) and not something the Nexus did that could have also happened to other mods. That answers my question. I guess there is nothing you can really do about that.

Thanks.

At the time the mod was published, permissions were handled in a different way. There was not section on the mod page for permissions, it was up to the mod author to specifically state any and all permissions on the description page.

When the site was overhauled, the permissions section was added and all the permissions were set to "No" by default. It was then up to the author to make any changes to their mods that were published prior to the site update.

That is why there are conflicting permissions shown on some of the older mods.

Wow thanks for telling me ... I will gladly upload an image. It's just that I remember many published mods without images , so I thought it was not required. But I understand you guys are trying to clean up the look of the neighborhood.

Anyways , I cannot find how to bring up my unpublished mod page. It appears once I closed that window because I thought I was done. Which was after I removed the second upload of the file ... because it looked like I was double posting that. I thought it just needed time for you guys to give it an eyeball , or comps to do that for you ?

I guess I am not the brightest bulb in the bunch ( he he considering the title) But I would prefer to just add to that submission than make a whole new one :\

You should be able to see and access all -your- mod pages from here, even Unpublished ones.

Can you please address what M48AS said (and what I have already said about this in this thread):

At the time the mod was published, permissions were handled in a different way. There was not section on the mod page for permissions, it was up to the mod author to specifically state any and all permissions on the description page.
