Vortex doesn't work with Fallout 4.

EDIT: Does work. Just requires some work to get running if you have the following error message.

Tried express download of the program. Gave me the following error messages:

"

- Symlink Deployment- Doesn't work with games based on the gamebryo engine (including Skyrim SE and Fallout 4)

- Symlink Deployment (Run as Admin)- Doesn't work with games based on the gamebryo engine (including Skyrim SE and Fallout 4)

- Hardlink Deployment - works only if mods are installed on the game drive as the game. You can go to settings and change the mod directory to the same drive as the game

- Move deployment (Experimental!) - Works only if mods are installed on the same drive as the game. You can go to settings and change the mod directory to the same drive as the game."

Go to your Mods tab. select a location for the Mods Path field. Make a new folder (name it whatever is easiest to remember). Select that. Then hit apply.

OP tells you how to fix it in the very first post.
You need to take the time to READ it.

Vortex gives you all of the information pertinent to the problem an also gives you the solution to the problem

As long as you take the time to read the information and implement it.

Solution is highlighted

Vortex is pretty verbose on problems and how to fix them.

yep and it do a good job of not telling you something as well, we cant all be brain surgons by the way, some of us read all but dont understand so we come here for help and its really nice to be helped rather than shot down......

The fix is explained in the very first post.

Nobody shot anybody down.

I also talked about how Vortex is very good at telling you what the problem is and how to fix it, the OPS post in fact is a copy of what Vortex tells you about each type of link and how to fix each problem.

The only thing required is to read and follow the directions.

As a matter of fact, I highlighted the text that shows exactly what to do in order to fix the problem.

"CHANGE THE DIRECTORY TO THE SAME DRIVE AS THE GAME", that way HARDLINKS will Work.

That doesn't require anybody to be a brain surgeon.

Were you having this same problem?

Vortex will work with fallout 4 and Skyrim it just depends on the mod, I managed to get some mods to work u just half to find the mod that works like test the mod out if it's buggy then don't use it also make sure u are downloading the support mod for the mod, yes sadly most mods don't seem to work but I esure all of u that vortex will work with fallout 4 it just depends on the mod.

So, I've tried changing the place of installation to the same drive as the game, but it tells me "the target folder must be empty". Additionally, all videos I have seen detailing the setup get a mod page with three separate path options. I only get one called "Mod staging Folder". Is this normal?

Note: I may have resolved this, but im interested to know what people with far more experience than me say.

Would you care to tell others how you resolved it?
