this same thing is happening to me right now. it's really bizarre. i was modding last night, today vortex can't recognize my fallout 3 game folder files. my game is from steam. fallout 4 and skyrim se are still managed by vortex. and if i go to my fallout 3 game folder, all my exe's are in there. but when I try and have vortex locate it the file only shows the folders. nothing else.

now when I click on fose it's saying I have an unknown version of fallout. i don't get it...

I have the exact same problem to a T dont know what changed from yesterday when it worked fine

There's an update on steam for fallout 3. I would bet that has something to do with it. Bethesda did away with the windows live requirements. vortex needs to probably update something.

from TTW Discord :

"We are aware that the latest update to the Steam version of Fallout 3 does not work with the installer. The reason being is, the executable has been recompiled so the installer does not recognise it as valid.

We'll keep you posted on how this situation develops, but until then, you should use the GOG version of Fallout 3 as that still works with the installer. "

I'm sure this is affecting vortex and others too....

The Steam version of Fallout 3 was recompiled with VS2019. FOSE + mods/plugins dependent on it are broken, as is TTW. I suggest that Vortex gets updated to work with these libraries.

For users who don't want to wait for the fix, get the older version of the game if you can, or get the GOG version.
