Acebopata
I have a third party controller for my PS3. The main problem I had with the PS3 original controller is keeping up with that USB cord.
JimboUK
You can get 360 a style controllers for the PS3, I like the PS3 but hate the controllers with a passion, they're not very expensive and a godsend if you can't get on with the official ones. That's great news. I'm... pretty damn tall IRL(my whole family is) and subsequently I've got huge mits. Small controllers like the PS2 had hurt my hands after a while, wheras huge great controllers like the original original Xbox's controller(before they made it smaller) are ideal since they match my hands, rather than making me contort my fingers just to get them out of the way. PS2 controllers were painfully bad for me-there were only two reasons I didn't buy an PS3 at launch, price and the teeny weeny itsy bitsy horribly nasty aweful agony inducing controllers of pain and torture. The palm of my hand is the size of a slice of bread and I have the added disadvantage of long fingers, so holding a controller designed for midgets results in anguish. Logitech had a much larger controller which I tried, but they were horrifyingly short-lived(my pair both died from internal hardware failures in under a month from purchase, I may be big, but I'm never rough with delicate hardware, so it could only have been a production fault) I have the same problem. Had the top of the sticks been concave rather than convex things might have been a little better, as is your thumbs just slide off them. It's like the triggers curving inwards, that design beggars belief, your fingers slip off them. As for Logitech just about every product of theirs I've had has failed, the only thing to last has been my steering wheel.
Vindekarr
That's certainly been my experience with Logitech console products. They're so patchy, my G9 mouse still works flawlessly after what I'd guess would be 7 1/2 years and three times the warranty worth of use, I only replaced it with a 9X because my parts supplier offered it to me for a massive discount since I was also getting my PC rebuilt. On the other hand I bought a Logitech headset and it was snapped in half when I opened the box. My logitech PS2 controllers expired after a few days from faulty wiring, and I've had a logitech racing wheel snap in my hands. Is there a particular accessory brand you can recomend? I've been away from Sony consoles for so long I may aswell be totally new to them. Mine should arrive in a few weeks, so I've got plenty of time to learn about using it. Acebopata
My best advice is to take good care of it. The system is durable, but the longer you can keep it going, the better. Don't run the system for more than 20 hours at a time, use a low-powered vacuum once every year in the vents to clean them of dust(That's in the PS3 official online manual, BTW,) and keep the vents roughly 4" from any walls. Even if you don't do this, though, the PS3 is miles ahead of the 360 in terms of durability.
Thor.
You can get third party controllers and even wheels for the ps3, some even usb, most of them are wireless. Unlike the 360 the controllers are charged directly via usb, so you don't need long cords or batterys. Edited June 24, 2012 by Thor.

(you can also set controllers to turn off after a short time, mine are 10 minutes i believe) and hell i vacuum my Ps3 like every month or so. pretty much whenever i vacuum my room. which lol is every month or two :P

Vindekarr
Nice, that's what I'm after. i can't stand the way they've put the thumbstick where any sensible person would put a D-pad/
hoofhearted4
i disagree. i dont use the D-Pad often, mostly its just to select something or give a command. having both joysticks in the same place, so my hand isnt stretched out is much more comfortable for me, since you are always using joysticks for movement. having the D Pad where it is is much better, imo. i just prefer the Ps3 controller better. however, ive never tried the xbox layout on a Ps3 size controller. im not a fan of the size of the xbox controller. Vindekarr
It's different when your left thumb can use the right thumbstick. Big hands make little controllers a big problem.
