All Mods duplicated and disabled

Finished reinstalling all mods (by doing that duplication dissapeared), launched the game, every thing seemed fine.

But than I tried to switch between games, and strange thing happened.

When I switch from Skyrim SE to old Skyrim and back, everything is OK, but when I switch from Skyrim SE to Fallout 4 and back, once again all mods are disabled and duplicated. I dont have any other game in vortex, so can't say for sure, but maybe there is some spesific conflict when Skyrim SE are switched to Fallout 4.

Fallout mods are OK. Only SE is messed up.

Seems like you are able to reliably reproduce it then? If you could cause it to do that and then immediately send in your log file and describe the issue, that would be immensely helpful.

Well, I tried again swithing the games, after enabling disabled mods, and nothing happened, maybe that happens randomly, although this time I didn't reinstall mods, only enabled them (so they stayed duplicated). Now I doesn't have time to reinstall all mods, at weekend will try to reinstall all mods and swithing the games and if that glitch will reapet, provide the log file.

Can you tell me the paths to each of your mod staging folders for each game

Also, what is the path to your downloads folder?

  • 4 weeks later...

Had this issue myself after adding Fallout New Vegas and Witcher 3 to my managed games, all my mods have duplicated and disabled themselves on Skyrim SE. My current staging path for all games is H:\Vortex Mods\{game} and has not been changed at all. Before trying to deploy to fix it, all plugins were still there, but all games said they had never been installed. When I deployed mods it proceeded to duplicate them in the mods list and list all installed mods as disabled, basically meaning that while all mods are still downloaded, the entire configuration of the profile must be started from scratch. Morrowind with the MGG modlist is completely fine and intact, as mentioned elsewhere in the thread only skyrimse seems to suffer for whatever reason.

This isn't the worst issue in the world due to me waiting on a reply from a mod author to fully start another skyrim playthrough, but this is the first major issue I've had with vortex, and a total blow to my confidence in the program for managing ALL games. I digress however, I plan to continue to use it for at least skyrim and like what the program consists of so far. Please let me know if I can give more information.

Had same issue. Fresh installed game and mods for skyrim SE. Today I opened nmm, selected skyrim, removed and deleted all mods. Reinstalled skyrim, started downloading mods added 23 of them. Switched back to SkyrimSE and all mods are disabled/duplicated and renamed, as i installed my mods for SSE I add an install number to them since there are 180 of them. Those are gone as well. Now SSE still runs as if all the mods are there which makes sense, i havent deployed on SSE. I just cant do any management or add any mods to SSE cause then I would have to deploy.

NMM or Vortex?

Although the following remarks may be of little comfort to folk with the duplication problem, the remarks do show that Vortex can operate without that problem.

I use profiles all the time. I have never had a mod duplication issue with profiles, and I've been using Vortex for a year. Each of my profiles has its own saves and its own .ini's. When I set up a profile, I make sure to deploy before switching to another profile or another game. I confess to being a fanatic about deploying, even when I make the slightest change. In avoiding the duplication problem, I've either been very lucky or very smart - I'm not sure which.

The only time I ever had a mod duplication issue was when I transferred a game to a different computer and made a really dumb mistake when installing the mods. Vortex wasn't the problem; I was.

Using Vortex, I have managed Bethesda games only. I have no idea how I would fare with other games such as "Dragon Age" or "The Witcher 3," both of which I have on Steam.

I wish you all well in your search for a solution.

This also has messed up my Fallout 4 Mods today, I didn't even launched or installed Mods for it today, but have modded my Skyrim SE in Vortex and when I switched back to FO4 it showed zero active Mods and this Archive Binding didn't help.

Way to go, I am really pissed right now.

I had it happen once when I switched from Skyrim SE to Fallout 4.

Entirely empty Mod and Plugin screen, (I had the ENABLED Filter turned on), saw all of my mods were disabled, then I waited, and within a minute or so the mod and plugin screen filled in
At first I was worried that I was hit with the same thing, but I just waited it out and everything worked.
