BolognaSandwitch
Can't get Vortex to install, every time i try i get what happens in the images below, tried running as admin but was told it was a bad idea so came here. now 1st of all i have almost everything on an external hard drive (F in inage #3) but according to one of gophers vortex videos (i think) only expert/advanced users should use the Vortex (custom install location) download (and i was BARELY able to figure out how to move steam to my external hard drive when i bought it. technology is DEFINITELY not my friend. at any rate, when i try install & get image #1, click continue & #2 next & #3. & i don't know wtf to do here. the migrating from vortex to nmm page says nothing. (unless im being VERY blind). SHOULD i run the custom download because of having steam on the external hard drive? what am i not seeing? (very bad habit of that) Please help! HadToRegister
When you get to C:\ProgramData\Vortex\ Just select the DOWNLOADS folder and click SELECT FOLDER.Don't open the folder and go inside it, because then you have nothing to select. Honestly I don't think it's a good idea to put your DOWNLOADS directory inside the ProgramData\Vortex\ folderbecause Vortex uses that Vortex folder to keep track of other thingsMake another folder like C:\Downloads for your downloads

Grestorn
Um, why not? It's actually the place MS has prepared for that purpose... But for Vortex, you have to create a subdirectory there, so you can use that path for your Vortex downloads. Like C:\Users\<username>\Downloads\Vortex
rics1997
Example of where I put my download folder D:/Game/Vortex Make sure the new Vortex folder has nothing in it. Vortex will put the individual game folders it needs in there. It you add anything into the vortex folder directly you will get the Folder must be empty message. now after Vortex adds a game folder like Skyrim then you can download into it manually. example D:/Game/Vortex/Skyrim but as stated Vortex has to add the skyrim folder not you. At least thats how it worded for me
