Hello,

This isn`t really an issue for me,but I use a program to clean up my registry and stuff, ccleaner. And it detects the mod archives and asks me if I want them uninstalled.A bit annoying because the first time I didnt realise what data ccleaner was talking about and deleted my mods archives.

bye

Just a tip: CCleaner and similar tools are the source of endless problems and troubles.

The registry doesn't slow down a computer. Neither does a HDD which contains superfluous data. But a deleted registry entry or file can cause serious trouble.

So just stay away from these tools. Windows does quite a good job taking care of itself.

all those registry cleaner products out there are pure snake oil. agree 100% with Grestorn, stay well clear of them, they cause far more harm than good, as the OP's post shows.

You can use CCleaner to not touch registry. It's just an automated tool to clean out your recycle bin and temp files. Anyway, I've never had trouble with CCleaner and Vortex, CCleaner never asked me about Vortex, but that's possibly because I have Vortex downloading the mods into a location outside of AppData. In all likelihood CCleaner just thinks the Vortex downloads are temp files. Just add Vortex folder to CCleaner exceptions or have it download mods to outside AppData. Problem fixed.

Cleaning the recycle bin and temp directory can be done with standard OS Tools (disk clean-up, press the windows key and type "clean" to find it). This cleans even much more and is SAVE.

Many times people just use third party tools (which developers usually know much less about Windows then MS themselves, obviously) to achieve things the OS can to itself perfectly fine.

BTW, in the latest Win 10 update (which has been retracted) there's an all new clean-up feature included which takes even better care of this.

Yeah that's what I use. LOL.

I did previously use CCleaner though because the cleaning tool in Windows was so far down inside the settings that I was too lazy and CCleaner was on the desktop. LOL.
