OneShotPaddy4
Note: Fresh install of Skyrim SE, Vortex and mods.So I've installed Skyrim on my 2nd hdd, I've downloaded SKSE64 and installed it by copying over the files into the game directory and then packing up the Data folder and loading it like a mod into Vortex (however I also just directly copied everything into the directory before that by mistake, not sure if that's a game-breaker).That said, I've grabbed a few mods, such as Alternate Start and when I launch the game via SKSE64_Loader, it just launches the base game with no Alternate Start. I have to deal with the beginning wagon ride, which tells me my mods aren't loading. However, when at the main menu, I used getSKSEversion and it gave me a version, runtime, etc.To be clear, I never had this problem with NMM.My next step as I'm typing this is to try to find LOOT and see if I can get it to reorder my mods. Any suggestions would be helpful, as for some reason I'm having a hard time with Vortex (no idea why they had to change but I suspect admins own't approve of my insulting their product). HadToRegister
Vortex has LOOT built in, no need to use a separate LOOT. and then packing up the Data folder and loading it like a mod into Vortex WHAT?
OneShotPaddy4
Vortex has LOOT built in, no need to use a separate LOOT. and then packing up the Data folder and loading it like a mod into Vortex WHAT?LOL, that's how several Youtube tutorials are saying to do it. Just pack up the data folder within SKSE64 and drag/drop it into Vortex. Though, I was having this problem BEFORE I did that.

rmm200
I am with the most knowledgeable responders on this forum.I don't care what videos show - don't pack up the data folder and install it like a mod.The Internet can be a great source of information. Or mis-information. Take your pick.
Grestorn
I'd be interested in a link for a video that recommends this.
rmm200
I do have a counter example.TTW does actually pack up the Fallout 3 data files and install them as a mod in Fallout NV.That is the only semi-exception I can think of.
HadToRegister
I too would like to see these 'tutorials', I've never heard of packing up the entire data folder before and installing it like a mod.
OneShotPaddy4
Guys, I apologize if I come across as rude but I didn't know this was so taboo. For those of us that haven't touched Special Edition before, it would help to explain where the problem is when you're making posts. I was only using the resources available to me and your responses of "what?" and "I'm going to echo him, WHAT?" are not only unhelpful but arrogant. Here you go HadToRegister:https://youtu.be/uIxawAYGYr0?t=98 Regardless I have uninstalled everything and am starting over. Thanks for reading this thread, I'm going to close this and ignore it from here on out and work on my own, as it seems this time around the forums have really been a dud. rmm200
Well the OP won't see this - but he either completely misinterpreted that video or he messed up describing what he did.The video was on how to install SKSE64. The author zipped up the SKSE64 data folder.Had nothing to do with zipping up the game data folder.
