Am I able to still use NMM, if I don't want to use Vortex ATM?

Yesterday, I was perfectly happy with NMM. I had just returned to play Skyrim SE again. I didn't even notice Vortex was even a thing, until I tried to learn how to install SKSE64 through a tutorial. I installed SKSE64 after following the directions correctly, only to find out it won't launch, because Skyrim SE updated and it's waiting for SKSE64 to match that update.

But, now I have this new mod managing system that I don't really want. I might give it a try at a later point in time. But, I want to go back to where I was yesterday, before it got complicated. I did uninstall Vortex, only to find out that the path is disconnected to NMM. Am I still able to go back to using NMM? If so, can someone help describe how to reconnect Nexus to NMM? Are we forced to use Vortex now?

You are not forced to use Vortex. You can continue to use NMM.

In NMM you should have a settings menu that allows you to reconfigure NMM to handle Nexus links. Click here for that information: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Installing_Nexus_Mod_Manager.

There isn't a way to automatically switch back to NMM I'm afraid. You're going to have to take the .zip, .7z, and .rar files in the downloads folder of Vortex (path that you had set it can be found in "SETTINGS", under "Downloads") and place it in NMM's download folder. Then redo the install order.

As for "reconnecting Nexus to NMM", you need to start NMM as administrator (right click on .exe, start as admin), and checking the box in Settings to let it handle the nxm again (not sure if you'll need to restart program and/or browser to finalize the change).

The thing is however, Skyrim still won't launch, because you need to download the new SKSE64, which is SKSE 64 v2.0.11. If you can't see that version, you may need to do a hard refresh, which, depending on your browser, can be SHIFT + F5, or CTRL + F5.

What are you finding complicated about the program though? If you don't mind me asking (as it's actually better to use either Vortex or MO2, so that your mods are not dependent on the order that you install the mods, but instead dependent on what priority you've given the mods)?

I figure I will try to learn how to use Vortex. Since that seems to be the direction things are going.

I've attempted to attach an image to show you what I'm confused about. I've been watching tutorials. I'm not finding anything that would help explain how to correct this situation. But, I want to learn how to deal with conflicts and unsolved issues. I've been getting messages about unsolved conflicts since I've started. This effects my favorite mods. So,I'm really hoping to get back on track.

Forget this post. I had not successfully attached the image that I needed to show you.

This forum is designed to help you, and so I'll try to address your issue, even though you weren't able to attach an image.

In the Vortex Knowledge Base the matter of file conflicts is dealt with here: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Managing_File_Conflicts. This article should help you better understand what those conflicts are about and how to resolve them.

Many first time users of Vortex think that Vortex has somehow generated conflicts that were not in their games when managed by NMM. That is not the case. The conflicts were always there, but NMM did not make you explicitly aware of them. Vortex does make you aware of the conflicts and asks you how you want to handle them. Please read the following Knowledge Base article to find what and why the difference between Vortex and NMM: https://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/File_Conflicts:_Nexus_Mod_Manager_vs_Vortex

Oh.

When you installed the mods on NMM, do you remember when it asked you if you wanted to overwrite files, with the options being Yes to All, Yes, No... etc? That's what this is.

With Vortex, it allows you to select what mod you want to have higher priority. This way, you don't need to uninstall and re-install a mod if you decide you wanted to use those textures/files instead.

I'm going to leave a link that talks about it more in depth, it also uses visual aid to help you out (don't overlook the pictures, they sometimes use features that they don't mention in the text, that will be useful if you end up having over 500 mods). If you are interested in reading other sections of the guide, just click on "Knowledge Base" on the left panel (or inside of Vortex, it both leads to the same page).

Edit: Whelp, the others beat me to the punch XD
