MarkusTay
A lot of us are having problems (the ONE thing Bethesda IS good at - making its customers MISERABLE), and now that we have an update to the F4SE (so Bethsuksa can peddle their trash), we need to update lots and lots of other things. Obviously in a perfect world every single mod we use would get updated, but a lot of mods haven't been updated in more than a year, so we all know that's a pipe-dream. But there are THE BIG ONES, like AWKCR, etc., that are MUST-HAVES to run a lot of other mods. So which ones do we absolutely NEED and have already been updated? I found there was a newer v. of AWKCR I didn't have, but I'm not sure if that's new enough - was THAT updated? And here's the big one - do we HAVE TO start a new game now? It seems a lot of people are saying so - too many older mods are now broken and no-one is around to fix them.
HadToRegister
You need to update all of the mods that use F4SE.
MarkusTay
So, ummmm... we're actually supposed to keep track of that stuff? Thats why I asked this question - which ones do that? I have over 300 mods - am I supposed to check the pages of each and every one of them? Will Bethesda be paying me for that time? (I get $200 an hr to troubleshoot). I asked, "which do I need to get', and your answer was, "all the ones you need". That's what that boiled down to. I am surprised there is no list floating around that we can check, that includes ALL the mods that use F4SE. Thanks for the response, anyway. Undeadbob666
You should be able to keep track of your own mods, many other users manage to do this without any hand holding. You didn't even bother listing all the mods you use, so how is anyone supposed to help you? So are you willing to pay someone $200 an hour to help you, or are you just going to rolling around in your diaper and demand help from the community for free? MarkusTay
LMAO - When I was in diapers, sonny, they were still made of cloth. :wink:I am asking "is there a compiled list somewhere of all mods that utilize F4SE". You know - a resource that just about any other group would have available for its members. My problem is I've tried every single solution I've seen on the internet, and each time I came across something I hadn't tried I was Like, "ah! that's it!". But nope. Everything is updated. Everything is right where its supposed to be. And STILL, the only files the game will save correctly are those that came from the Bethesda page. I keep thinking it must be something very simple I am over looking, but I am running out of ideas. The game simply will not run if I try to start F4SE through MM2 (like I always have), and when I use the F4SE loader by itself, a game will start, and I can play for as long as I want, but saves won't 'take'. I won't be able to load them again. Its almost like MM2 and f4SE can no longer see each other. I recall reading something about having to do a 'dry run' to get files to validate, but I can't find that info anymore. Someone explained it as F4SE's way of "getting its hooks" into the game. Would someone care to explain that? I've tried starting a new game several times now, using several different methods (MM2, F4SE, Steam, the game launcher itself, etc) with basically the same results. Also, we have to install the scripts from F4SE into MM2 like we would a mod? (so not just pasting the folders into the correct directory, which is what i always thought) I tried that after seeing it on a video, but to tell the truth, I don't ever recall having to do that back when my game ran perfectly. And I DON'T post my mod list because as I said, I run over 300 mods, and had them all running smoothly together just before this last game update. Its NOT the mod list - I've gone over it with a fine tooth-comb. I know where all the problems lie, and I've taken care of whatever I thought were problem spots (I have about 20 disabled at this point). My posts are already way too long - I would never expect anyone to actually read any post that contained my entire mod list (why should I expect anyone to go through my humongous mod list for me?) I am 100% sure it is NOT the mods themselves - I can get the game to run with most of them as of right now. The main problem/conflict I seem to be having is between MM2 and F4SE - I CANNOT start F4SE through the mod manager. Saves also don't 'take'. depending on how I start the game, I can get it to save, but it won't recall any data gleaned from mods (so once again, a conflict between MM2 and F4SE itself). I am also NOT blaming those programs - I am SURE it is something simple I am not doing. Some little tweak that makes them hold-hands properly. At this point I think it may be MM2 itself. I think I broke it somehow, or Bethesda broke it, or some combination of that (since I wasn't haven't any problems for 2 full days before their content update). Another oddity that has cropped up is the game won't shut off if I start it through MM2. I can get it off, but it starts right back up again. Sometimes it takes several tries to finally get rid of it, but a couple of times it locked-up my computer so bad I had to reboot. That's indicative of a secondary program also trying to start the game (I am thinking Steam, since the last time I had to restart, the computer told me it had to shutdown Steam first... and as far as I know I wasn't running Steam). Does F4SE start Steam automatically? Is there a way of running F4SE without steam trying to run in the background?
Undeadbob666
You could try vortex maybe? It allows you to run the game without steam.
MarkusTay
Vortex has its own issues, I've heard. I'd feel like I was trading one set of headaches for another, and MM2 has been real good for me up until now. The funny thing is, I've been thinking that a LOT of people are having the same problem right now, and a lot of people aren't - I have to wonder it its all people with MM2 that are having the issue? That would mean its a problem with F4SE, like maybe it hasn't been optimized to work with MM2? (because maybe the guys that released that last patch aren't using MM2 so they don't know about it?) Using the old exe and the old version of F4SE I had everything running better than ever before, for two whole days, but then I got forced to update and now nothing works. So the bottom line is, Bethesda is running its canvas bag across my face.
Undeadbob666
A year ago NNM stopped working correctly for (like it deleted all my mods), so I started using MO2 and then it would not load my profile or download any links correctly because I had added Kingdom come Deliverance to it so i could mod it. So I switched t Vortex after about 2 months ago, and I have not run into any problems. I like it so far, loot is added to it so it looks for errors. You will have to redownload all your mods however, so I can understand if you would'nt want to do that.
MarkusTay
I hear that vortex has a problem properly installing very large mods. Of course, MM2 doesn't do so 100% of the time either. I had to reinstall everything for Unique NPCs three times for it to 'take'. I will say all that aggravation was worth it. It looks like a different game now (too bad I can't save it, eh? Its almost laughable).
Undeadbob666
Maybe you can change where the game saves too, I think you can do so in the ini file (save to target or something)? Did that thing work on giving you full control over your save game folder?
