jaime74
This solution makes a lot of sense actually. So much so that I wonder why nobody thought of it first. So it seems my original question wasn't THAT stupid, after all! :teehee: What a relief!
Bojamijams
Well I wish you luck with this but I've had none. I reinstalled Civilization, used the commands, but have had no luck in undoing the bloat/CTDs. Now the link that I was given was for the Nexus version but I originally had the BSA (Steam) files. So maybe that is why I couldn't 'fix' it... so make sure you use the right version of the mod when trying this. let me know if it works
qwero
This solution makes a lot of sense actually. So much so that I wonder why nobody thought of it first. This "solution" is not new, read the threads. Unfortunately it doesnt work for every1, and we have to wait for a fix/update. tonicmole
I have had extreme save bloat, and I would very much suggest everyone still using the mods to remove Sounds of Skyrim whether or not you currently have problems, because there is no real way to fix the issue. I uninstalled SOS, then I removed ALL of the Script files for SOS that were in my Data folder. Then I loaded and resaved my game. My save went from 200Mb to 64Mb. Much better but still unplayable. I assume as I travel the size will decrease. Fingers crossed. Despite the promising development, issues like this can corrupt saves very easily, and because of the insane behavior of Skyrim saves you never can assume anything. kingdark
Has it been tried to install all mods and changes and perhaps reinstall skyrim completely? I mean, if it is only based in the save game then certain files will obviously been missing perhaps that can help? I know nothing about it, but perhaps a suggestion from someone that knows nothing about modding might be the solution. Then again it is highly likely it has already been tried before. blitzen
The problem is in the savegames. Uninstalling/reinstalling Skyrim will simply waste time. And I believe it was only SoS-Civilization that had the problem. People have been using the others for quite some time without issue. tonicmole
How all of this has been handled is VERY frustrating. I caught my saves bloating pretty quickly, so I can revert back just a little ways and be fine, but since I had them installed via Steam, I just uninstalled and deleted them using the Data files menu.....which is a terrible idea because now I know that I needed to deactivate them in game before removing them but all versions have been removed......leaving us with broken games and no help from the author. Really we need a way to remove the mod safely, not an update to it. Seems that problems on this scale need an alert on the front page of Nexus and the Workshop. This was a VERY popular mod and it just tanked a lot of peoples games. A small post on the front page once this issue was found could have warned us long before things got so out of hand. forthemods08
I agree.. this broke my game.. so I'm forced to play with SoS - Civ enabled so my saves dont bloat and have game freezes... plus side is, CoT SEEMS to be working fine, with SoS - Civ enabled.. so I guess it's not too bad, until I start a new character without this broken junk. Guest deleted1957693
Does anyone have links (or can dropbox the files) to all three mods? I uninstalled them just a few days ago when things started going awry and now I CTD every time I load my most recent save..
