So Far Vortex Sucks

I'm with OP. I was a little put off by the auto sorting, but decided to give it a little faith and try it out. I regret downloading this garbage. Not only does it sort like a blind man, but it practically expects me to know how to code to self sort! Dude, I'm a layman, I dont know how to do this crap. I just want to drag and drop and be done with it. Or hell: individually number everything. With Vortex those options are not on the table.
I'm just going to rollback to NMM. I dont work 70 hours a week to fight with my video games.

This thread needs to be closed, it's going to become a garbage dump for people to bash Vortex.

Should we not state our complaints in the feedback forum? I was sure I came to the right place to do that.

"crap", "Garbage" etc.

Unnecessary, just like OP, and the title of the thread.

I'm not going to get farther into it, as this thread is pointless and was ruined from the first post.

Show me where it says FEEDBACK in this forum?

There's also a big difference between Feedback and Complaining for the sake of complaining

"Vortex Discussion

Discuss Vortex and give us your feedback. Let us know what you think of Vortex here, what you like, don't like, and what you'd like to see improved"

In the forum description. It says it right there.

I dont intend to change the language which I use to describe this. I spent three days mucking with Vortex to no avail. My complaints are not for the sake of complaining either. My complaints involve the locked down tamper free load order system, and I stand by my statement of how asinine it is to design a mod manager that does not allow its users to set their load orders manually.

Yea, a few months ago I used to think that too, there's a 35 page thread in one of these forums of me arguing for Manual Load order.

I insisted on having Manual Load Ordering because that's how it was done in NMM, so instead of learning about Vortex and working WITH it, I insisted on keeping old (and bad) NMM habits and tried to force MY load order on Vortex, which led to no end of trouble.

It's when I got rid of those stupid habits NMM gave me, of needlessly mucking around with my Plugin Load order, and letting Vortex sort it instead, was I able to then focus on the actual Load Order that is more important, and that's adjusting the order that MOD Textures, Meshes, BSAs and BA2 "overwrite" each other.

Now, I don't even touch my Plugin order, (don't have to), and I can just easily pick which MOD loads BEFORE or AFTER to choose which one overwrites another where the real power of Vortex is.

Now, I can download mods, non-stop, and install them without wasting my time screwing around senselessly with the order of my ESPs, and can install mods one after the other, and when they're all installed, and Vortex lets me know which MOD (not Plugin IE Esps) have a conflict, I click on "MORE", Vortex gives me a list of all the conflicting mods, and with a few clicks, they're all sorted by overwrite priority and I'm up and running.

Takes a few minutes to get around 100 - 252 mods running with Vortex.

Much quicker than NMM which can take days of mucking about.

Yea, the learning curve is higher, but if you think you can just jump into Vortex without at least reading some of the Built-In knowledge base that takes you step by step through things, of course you're going to get frustrated and quit, and go back to NMM that allows you to have game breaking load orders and file conflicts because it never tells you what's wrong.

But that's how using any new piece of software works.

People don't buy AutoCAD and expect to be popping out 3D models in a few minutes without ever reading the manual or watching tutorials etc, they don't by a Word Processing program without reading the manual or watching tutorials, and Vortex is no different.

The reason it's easy to use NMM is because it doesn't DO anything, except leave you in the dark about any problems and file conflicts in your load order.

Now I have crash-free load orders with Morrowind, Oblivion, FO3, FONV, FO4, and SSE that I never had before, because Vortex lets me know what files are conflicting with each other, tells me how to fix them, and now that I'm familiar with Vortex, can easily fix in less than a minute.

This is why people in here are really skeptical when people just make a thread saying "Vortex Sucks", then they proceed to list off a bunch of stuff they claim that Vortex doesn't have or can't do, but in reality, Vortex actually has and can do.

After using Vortex for about a year, it's REALLY easy to spot the people who only fooled around with Vortex for a few minutes, then RageQuit, and then came to the forums to complain, while citing features they claim Vortex should have, when it already HAS them etc.

OP claimed there was no manual, there is, it's built into the interface, there are also video tutorials built in, a lot of people that complain about Vortex mysteriously miss those too.

People complain about Vortex not having certain basic settings, which proves they didn't even look at the SETTINGS tab.

Some people complain about the Colors or not being able to change them, but they never bothered to find out if you go to the THEME tab you can clone the theme and change the colors, fonts, interface size etc

So yea, people who only toyed around with Vortex for a few minutes to maybe an hour are extremely easy to spot.

The Developer of Vortex Tannin42, basically did a bullet list of the OPs post in this thread, a few posts up, and showed everybody that the OP hadn't spent much time with Vortex at all.

if you dont know what you're doing and then you try to transition and find you dont have the skills or knowledge, then that is 100% YOUR OWN FAULT.

Your post is nothing but you projecting your own shortcomings onto the tool - you know the addage a bad workman always blames his tools? That's what you're doing here.

Apparently no one is allowed to say anything negative about Vortex. Doing so gets your post called garbage and gets you treated rather badly. I stand by my opinion that Vortex sucks. I'm sure in the future, if we are allowed to admit that it sucks right now, it will improve. When NMM first came out it was rather sucky too. It was the negative feedback that caused NMM to improve. Those who are in love with Vortex are free to make your own post praising it. We are all entitled to our opinions.

Did you even read the response form the DEVELOPER of Vortex?

He went through your post bullet point by bullet point and showed that you barely had enough knowledge of it to post your "criticism"

You have yet to even acknowledge that posts exists, where he exposed you, you've just ignored the informative post by TANNIN42, I guess because you didn't like what he had so say, and how he showed everybody you were grossly uniformed in your OP.

Which by the way, would've been received much better if you hadn't titled your topic with such a hostile and purposefully combative title.

just wanted to point something out. There is a post in this forum, titled "minor profile enhancement".

In that post, someone makes a request based on usage and proposes an improvement. Wouldn't you know it, a while later they actually got what they asked for.

I wonder, if they'd titled their post "vortex sucks and i'm an entitled snowflake" if they'd have got the same result. I rather think, based on nothing but gut feelings, that the post would have been ignored completely.

just an observation that certain people may want to read and absorb while they eat the cheese that goes along with their whine.
