TheVambrony wrote: yeah this is all cool but what happens when theres a mod that's not on that site anymore? like the HK47 saber melee mod for KOTOR? I will never understand the insanity that is the modding community...who cares where something is hosted as long as the original creator is given credit...now certain files can be f*#@ed and lost forever if say someone is not modding anymore and hasn't reuploaded the mod...but I guess that's cuz I don't have the talent to create...

Nothing should be missing but if you feel something is missing, just ask us and we can investigate and I 100% promise it'll be able to be in our DB somewhere. The file you cite as missing for example is here - https://www.gamefront.com/games/knights-of-the-old-republic/file/hk-47-melee-saber-mod

We're happy to work with you guys if you find issues. Nothing has been lost I 100% guarantee that but if you spot any issues then we'll fix em. We're not here to make life hard for people on purpose and we're not a faceless corporate machine who will ignore you. :)

I don't know if it is a good idea to work together/help Gamefornt in any way. In the past i had mods only on Nexus, and after some time they magically appeared on Gamefront, when i contacted them about it, they offered thousand excuses and made me a account and linked it to my mods there so i could admin them.

To be honest, this is not the way you want to fill your website with mods, i genuinly felt that they stole it from me.

Hi, I'm assuming you mean the old GameFront site from back in the day, as we've not had such a complaint / we've not spoken before (I deal with all the tickets / complaints) - however all files on GameFront (as it was back then) were uploaded by users. Unlike the old GameFront however we now vet all file submissions before they go live, and any we suspect or know right away are stolen content we don't approve. If there's any of your files on GameFront you don't wish to be there then just let us know via our support ticket system and we'll take them down right away without fuss, promise. Fallout 4 was never a game GameFront supported as it shut down way before that game was released, so is unaffected by this whole deal.

'zactly.

If it were your work involved, you might feel differently about where and how it was being made available. And we here at the Nexus have a very strong prejudice toward protecting authors' rights regarding their works. Some might say overly protective, but we feel that's better than the contrary.

TheVambrony wrote: the biggest problem is when nexus was the only place where it seems many of these mods where left, I can count 10 mods alone today that nexus had here that are no longer on that site or anywhere...now they all screwed because some site wants to get butthurt that the internet does what the internet does(what they should have done was simply say "yeah, we let nexus host them too cuz they are cool with us, helped us and are the best damn mod site in the world, anyone else can f*** off")...they should be as grateful as the users that you guys hosted this stuff for them, and I can say without fail that anything I would ever do on the internet would ether be hidden from everyone for my own use, or open for everyones use so long as im not charging money for it...and then it would end up on (oh sorry) "random famous theft site" anyways...I don't really care about the mods that are still over on that site, this is about the total destruction of many mods that where here was the last place they were...but what do I know, im just a mod user, not a modder, so my opinions(that im sure no one shares) don't matter and I should just F off...i atleast agree with most here that gaining a working relationship about hosting that stuff should at least be sought out...to avoid future problems should they go down again...

you don't.
FileTrekker wrote: I understand you're upset but I'd say, as the article also says, that we did actually take the approach you suggest for well over a year, before it came to this due to unfortunate bad apples.

Also people can work with us. Nothing at all has been lost from GF unless modders have asked us to take stuff down. If you feel something is missing that should not be, as it was on here, you can let me or another team member known on the site and I 100% guarantee it'll be in our DB somewhere, and we can make it available.

Don't be afraid to ask and we'll get it sorted.
TheVambrony wrote: ok, honest question, is GF still uploading all the old s#*! right now as in, it was gone but now they need time to reup the database or was it all there and just hidden, cuz I found the HK mod that wasn't there in the list yesterday but now its there at the bottom like its new? because if that's the case it would have been great to say all that GF might need some time to upload everything and don't worry cuz everything will be back, cuz I looked yesterday and it wasn't there...

Are you confusing GameFront with GMod (now ModDrop)? Because that's what they did (source). I'd be very surprised if GameFront had done something like that, unless it was a rogue user, which happens here from time to time, too. Edited by Dark0ne

And the winner is......

A three-way tie!!! The modders, players, and site owners ALL WIN!! :D

TesSource was my reason for coming to PC gaming, and in the last 8 years or so this place has just gotten better and better. I may be here more sparsely, but there is forever a reserved space in my heart for this site. Good form ladies and gentlemen.

We need to save Skyrim Mods in Gamefront from extinction lest we grant permissions from Gamefront.com... Without it, it would crumble to dust.

Moddb is still running...

I don't know if Diablo 2 mods or Phrozen would migrate to Nexusmods. Like Median XL.
