Deployment failed, please help!

Hey everyone,

So I've been away from my PC for a while and now that I'm back I've discovered that NMM is no more. Not a big deal for me except I'm having problems with Vortex that I never had with NMM. Literally every mod I try and download for both Fallout 4 and New Vegas (I assume it would be the same for Skyrim and Skyrim SE) gives me a "deployment failed" message with how many files failed to deploy along with a read out that says, "The most likely reason is that files were locked by external applications so please make sure no other application has a mod file open, then repeat deployment". Thing is the only applications open are vortex and my internet browser. I've been using NMM for years with the only problems caused being from the mods conflicting. I have no idea if it's something I've done wrong or if it's Vortex or if for some reason none of the mods want to work with Vortex (which I find hard to believe)

Note that everything is freshly installed if that's an issue. It's my understanding that Vortex is supposed to be more user friendly but that just doesn't seem to be the case from my perspective. I only just installed Vortex today and I'm already so stressed I'm listening to chill-step as I type this out to try and stay calm. I could really use some fresh input to help figure this out. Thanks!

For whatever reason I cant get NMM to log me on so that I can download the mods I want. Everything I've read says its been outdated and as far as I can tell no longer directly supported via the Nexus...

Beyond that the problem I'm having seems to be a problem that has been an issue since it was in alpha. I haven't been able to find any definitive answers on previous threads and was hoping that someone who may have had similar issue might have a solution for me. I have already made a report through the report tool but have also seen that it takes some time to get a response back.

So that may have indeed been the problem. Just moved around some files and low and behold I just installed a mod without that error. I knew I had to be missing something. I was just so frustrated that it never occurred to me to look at the file paths. Thanks for the input, it was really helpful! Hopefully its more or less smooth modding from here XD!

Also thanks for the github link!
