TheSilverRoman
Hello folks, one of my favorite videogames at the time is The Witcher by CDProject RED.I find the story to be intriguing and the character you play very interesting. Since I have not found a topic about The Witcher, expect for a old Thread in the Lounge, I thought of opening one here and posting up to date information for anybody who is interested. The Witcher by itself was pretty good, having a few flaws, of which most have been taking care of. However, a new, improved version of the game is coming out in September: The Witcher Enhanced Edition. Before anything is to be said, the update is free for registered owners of the game. It can be simply downloaded, though buying the Enhanced Edition (also known as EE) comes with a few tangible goodies. Here are a few features of the EE: 200 new gestures and characteranimationsReworked fighting systemImproved inventory; Ingredients sortable by primary and secondary ingredientsImproved loading times, up to 80% 80%The possibility to turn the autosaving offMst important NPCs receive new modelsA random coloring system, ending the times of meeting clones!More language options; decide for any of the 9 languages and subtitles; can be mixed e.g. Spanish voices and polish subtitles! The EE box, the buyable version will also contain the following goodies: The Game DVD with the Enhanced Edition PatchA improved D'jinni editor and two extra adventures, Side Effect and The Price of Neutrality, both voiced!A Making Of DVDA Inspired By music CDA music CD contaning the music found ingameA improved manualA official stragety guideA map of the world The Witcher plays inThe short story The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski About the downloads: The EE patch will be around 930 MB, the extra adventures 301 MB and 320 MB, the language files vary from 446 MB to 676 MB. The languages avaible will be Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Russian and Spanish. A minimum download would include the EE patch and the language files of the gameversion you're using, since those also have been updated. On a last note, the savegames from previous gameversions will work with the updated game! On the real last note, I'll post links to a few trailers for the EE. A fun video showing the video coloring feature: Video mainly on the upgrade of the EE: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/37088.html Okay, on the real ( ) last note:Together with One2Tribe, CDProject RED made a free browser game based on The Witcher. It is easy to understand and real fun!Links:Browsergame: http://versus.thewitcher.com/The Witcher Wikia entry about Versus with many usefull links: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Versus I hope this information is usefull for any Witcherfan here. Any questions or something about The Witcher you want to talk about?Just ask here
Dark0ne
On a last note, the savegames from previous gameversions will work with the updated game! That's good to know. I stopped playing The Witcher about 5 hours in because I heard about the EE, that was about 4 months ago.
WoogieMonster
Those download sizes are nothing less than insane, that's not a "patch" that's an entirely new game. And paying to get the fixed version of what the game company screwed up the first time is a practice that's popping up way too often. If they put more into the new quests and called it an expansion, maybe I would have fell for it.... maybe. As it stands, this just pisses me off.
TheSilverRoman
@WoogieMonsterYeah, the downlaod will take a lot of time... Other than that I admit, I cannot complain. I've played the 1.0 and 1.3 version, both without any problems and bugs, though I heard that other people had a few problems. For me the features, the story and all that mumbo jumbo greatly outnumbered and outweighted the very few problems that I had (most of them my own stupidity :whistling: ) I see the whole thing not really as a patch, but a upgrade. And at that it will do a great job. @Dark0ne, understandable, though I stuck with the game, played one (now almost two) of the mainpaths and can't wait to finish the thrid and then try out all the minor paths and decisions
Micko
And paying to get the fixed version of what the game company screwed up the first time is a practice that's popping up way too often. Anyone who owns a legit copy doesn't have to pay for the Enhanced Edition.

Micko
You have to buy it if you can not download 2 gigs worth of crap they should have done the first time. Well I'm pretty happy with the current game patched up to date. Many others must be too considering the amount of awards it's won. I look at the EE as a bonus, if you don't have the means to take advantage of it, that's hardly CDProjekts fault.
WoogieMonster
The point I was making clearly went way over your head. Don't worry, you can try again in the bonus round.

Maybe you can explain it in simpler terms for us then. Your point seems to be you're not happy with TW and you have a crap internet service. You think the EE should have been the original version of the game and even though it's being released free for TW owners you lump CDProjekt in with companies that charge existing owners for a enhanced version of a game. Bitter, bitter, bitter.
Skotte
I have been curious about Witcher ever since I first saw screenies of it in PCGamer but I haven't found it in my area (I like to pick up the box & check it out before plunking down the green for a game) so maybe I can get another chance at finding this title. also since I'm a dial-upper this would save my modem some wear & tear.
